Sean Hayes
Sean Hayes joined Scott for an extended conversation about comedy, acting and podcasting.
He reflected on Will & Grace and the way Jack McFarland became one of television’s most recognisable comic characters.
The conversation covered timing, live audiences and the trust required between performers in a long-running sitcom.
Sean discussed SmartLess and the difference between interviewing friends informally and creating a programme heard by a large audience.
Scott asked about stage work and the discipline of repeating a performance while preserving the sense that it was happening for the first time.
Sean also considered the changing landscape for LGBTQ+ performers and the significance attached to Will & Grace when it first aired.
