10 June 2024: Jo Whiley, Corrie’s Gilly and the unexpected Swifties

The unexpected Swifties

After Taylor Swift’s three Edinburgh shows, Scott asked to hear from people who had attended reluctantly and come away converted.

Marianne, 55, had accepted a spare ticket despite knowing only the biggest hits.

She attended with her 57-year-old brother and said Taylor’s three-and-a-half-hour performance placed her alongside Pink among the best concerts she had ever seen.

Marianne spent the following day listening through the catalogue and declared herself a fully converted Swifty.

Jo Whiley reviews the Eras Tour

Jo Whiley joined Scott after attending the Saturday show with her daughter Coco.

She remembered interviewing Taylor at the very beginning of her career, when the music and image were still heavily country-influenced.

Jo praised the Edinburgh crowd and the scale and consistency of the modern production.

The Birthday Game: Gilly

Gilly returned from the Coronation Street hair and make-up department.

She had previously helped place Scott Mills’ Big Ones on the CD rack in Rita’s Kabin.

Gilly turned 42 and discussed the news that Helen Worth would leave the soap after decades as Gail Platt.

The Birthday Game gave her a number-one soundtrack from 10 June.

The Music Police

Scott opened another Music Police investigation as the Taylor Tracker prepared to move from Edinburgh towards Liverpool.

Handover

Scott handed over after welcoming Radio 2’s newest unlikely Swifties.
