Historic celebrity haircuts
Scott asked listeners which celebrity hairstyles they had attempted to copy.
One listener confidently took a photograph of Paul Young into a salon at the age of 12.
Others remembered repeatedly asking for versions of David Beckham’s changing hairstyles, while Ariana Grande’s high ponytail inspired more recent attempts.
The stories ranged from successful tributes to cuts that looked very different once recreated by a local hairdresser.
The Birthday Game: Kelly
Kelly from Guildford turned 46 and worked as cabin crew.
She had recently returned from a birthday cruise beginning in Miami and travelling around the Bahamas and Caribbean.
A year earlier, Kelly had spotted a Birthday Game certificate pinned to the wall at her GP surgery.
Her doctor, Sarah, shared the same birthday and had previously received KLF’s 3AM Eternal.
Kelly hoped to get exactly the same song.
Her first spin was Basshunter’s Now You’re Gone. She rejected it.
The second was Marc Almond and Gene Pitney’s Something’s Gotten Hold of My Heart. Kelly found it too slow and gambled again.
Her compulsory final song was Aqua’s Doctor Jones.
Kelly accepted it, amused that the doctor-themed song had appeared after the story about her GP.
Scott arranged both a certificate and a balloon.
Harry Styles turns 30
Scott marked Harry Styles’ 30th birthday and discussed photographs of him cycling through central London in a large orange puffer jacket.
The Music Police
The force continued working through a difficult case.
Listeners supplied several possible answers, but the evidence remained too weak for an immediate conviction.
Handover
Scott handed over after the haircut confessions and Kelly’s unexpectedly appropriate Aqua result.
