Scott shared the newspaper advert Tony Blackburn answered in 1964.
It invited applicants to send a recording of themselves introducing three favourite records for a job on Radio Caroline.
Tony said the tiny advert changed his entire life and led to a broadcasting career lasting six decades.
Scott remembered when local newspapers carried almost everything people needed, from jobs and houses to second-hand goods and missed connections.
A master’s degree in pantomime
Jefferson called after the programme mentioned his unusually specific postgraduate qualification.
He had loved pantomime since seeing productions at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth as a child.
After struggling to find a formal route into the profession, he spotted an advert in The Stage for a master’s degree devoted to pantomime.
The course examined traditions that had previously been passed down informally between performers.
Jefferson said pantomime was often a child’s first experience of live theatre and deserved to be taken seriously as an art form.
The Birthday Game: Brent
Brent from Perth worked as an assistant shop manager by day and a professional wrestler by night.
He performed at shows around Scotland and wanted 1990s or 2000s rock and indie.
His first spin was Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You. Brent said he would have preferred Dolly Parton’s original and rejected it.
The second was Enrique Iglesias’ Hero, number one in 2002.
Although it was not indie or rock, Brent remembered it as a karaoke favourite and decided to keep it.
His unused third song was Kesha’s We R Who We R.
Brent said he had made the right decision and requested the birthday balloon.
The Apprentice
Scott looked ahead to the new series of The Apprentice, including a task involving Formula E teams and the familiar boardroom criticism from Lord Sugar.
Handover
Scott handed over after celebrating the small newspaper advert that launched Tony Blackburn’s career.
