The wedding tasting
Scott had managed to attend his wedding-food tasting after presenting both his own show and Sara Cox’s programme.
The meal became complicated because his future husband and mother-in-law disliked fish, cheese, tomatoes, mushrooms and anchovies.
Scott therefore had to sample much of the menu himself and compared the experience with Geraldine eating multiple Christmas dinners in The Vicar of Dibley.
Wedding finger drama
Trying on wedding rings made the approaching ceremony suddenly feel real.
Scott had assumed ring sizes worked like clothes sizes.
Sam’s ring slipped on easily and was measured as a European size 54.
Scott’s first attempts barely passed his nails or became stuck around his unusually large knuckles.
The correct size was 67, equivalent to roughly an X-and-a-half in the British lettering system.
Only one ring in the required size remained, and it had to be brought from a shop in France.
Listeners with similarly large hands sent their own measurements, including one caller who wore a Z3.
The Birthday Game: Jenny
Jenny from Surrey turned 43 and worked as a wellbeing coaching consultant specialising in positive psychology.
She described the field as the science of human flourishing and helping people identify what was right before focusing on what was wrong.
Jenny had eaten a school dinner with her daughter, including pasta, sausage, sponge and custard.
She wanted Pink, Goo Goo Dolls, Bon Jovi or a 2000s power ballad.
Her first spin was Elvis Presley’s Jailhouse Rock. Jenny rejected it.
The second was Céline Dion’s Think Twice. She said January already contained enough drama and gambled again.
Her compulsory final song was A-ha’s The Sun Always Shines on TV, number one in 1986.
Jenny liked A-ha and accepted the result, receiving the birthday balloon.
The Traitors finale
Scott caught up on the final after being away during the weekend.
He praised Jaz’s instincts and enjoyed Claudia Winkleman surprising him with a telephone call from his wife.
Needing another fix, Scott immediately moved on to the Australian version, which he described as louder, less filtered and even more dramatic.
A new Music Police case
Scott opened another investigation after reviewing the force’s recent success with the Communards.
The new caller supplied a fresh fragment for listeners to identify during the week.
Handover
OJ Borg was sitting in for Sara Cox, and Scott handed over after the wedding-ring revelations.
