Les Dennis joins Strictly
Les Dennis was confirmed as the final contestant in the 2023 Strictly Come Dancing line-up.
The announcement was less surprising because Les had accidentally posted a playlist labelled “Strictly Les Dennis” around two weeks earlier.
He explained that his daughter had prepared the playlist and he had intended to email it to his agent, but a mistaken press sent it to Twitter instead.
Scott believed Les’s theatre background might make him a stronger dancer than viewers expected.
He also laughed at repeated Wikipedia edits claiming that Les Dennis was a horse, which had caused the page to be locked.
What is a wedding breakfast?
During wedding planning, Scott heard the phrase “wedding breakfast” for the first time.
He initially assumed it meant the meal eaten on the morning of the ceremony.
Listeners explained that it was simply the first meal eaten as a married couple, regardless of the time of day.
One caller described it less romantically as another meal the couple had to buy for all of their guests.
The Birthday Game: Angela
Angela from Nottingham turned 54 and normally made handmade cards and banners for friends and relatives.
She expected to receive shop-bought cards herself.
Angela shared her birthday with Hulk Hogan, Adam Thomas, Viola Davis and Chris Hemsworth.
She wanted music from the 1980s and hoped to avoid rap.
Her first spin was Darius’s Colourblind, number one in 2002. Angela rejected it.
The second was a Three Degrees song. Although she said she liked it, she still chose to gamble.
Her compulsory final song was Robbie Williams’ Rock DJ, number one in 2000.
Angela was delighted.
Scott remembered using the record for his first dance on Strictly Come Dancing.
