Gary Davies reaches the White Lion
Scott returned to the campaign to place vintage photographs of Gary Davies on pub walls.
Karen, landlady of the White Lion in Selling near Faversham, had selected a photograph of Gary on a beach surrounded by cocktail glasses.
The picture had now arrived, been framed and unveiled during Sunday lunch.
Karen played reactions from customers and younger members of staff, some of whom had needed an explanation of who Gary was.
The pub planned to create an “Ooh Gary” cocktail of the month, with Scott suggesting it should have a distinctly orange appearance.
Karen also invited Scott and Gary to take over the bar for an evening, despite Scott admitting that he had never pulled a pint.
The Birthday Game: Sue
Sue from Basingstoke turned 58.
She worked as a personal trainer from a small gym converted from her garage and had been a running-club champion in her age category the previous year.
Sue planned to work before going out for dinner.
She wanted upbeat 1980s or early-1990s dance music.
Her first spin was Dexys Midnight Runners’ Come On Eileen. Sue rejected it.
The second was Katy Perry’s I Kissed a Girl, number one in 2008. She gambled again.
Her compulsory third song was Elton John and Kiki Dee’s Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.
Sue remembered wearing dungarees during the period when the song was first popular and accepted the result, although Scott suspected she regretted leaving Dexys behind.
Gillian Taylforth’s birthday
Scott marked Gillian Taylforth’s 68th birthday with an early EastEnders confrontation involving Kathy and Angie Watts.
He also explained Kathy’s apparent off-screen death and later return for viewers who had not followed the soap closely.
A new Music Police case
Scott opened a new investigation after three o’clock.
The caller had supplied only a very short fragment, leaving the force with little evidence and plenty of work for later in the week.
Handover
Scott handed over to Sara Cox after promising another update on the Gary Davies pub campaign.
