The Birthday Game: Paul
Paul from Luton turned 60.
He had spent more than 20 years working in the ambulance service and still worked for a private ambulance company as a training officer.
Paul had also volunteered at events including Glastonbury Festival.
He shared his birthday with Kate Hudson, Tim Curry and Sue Barker.
Paul loved ELO but accepted that the group had never achieved a UK number one in their own right, apart from the collaboration Xanadu with Olivia Newton-John.
His first spin was Charlie Puth’s See You Again from Fast & Furious 7. Paul rejected it.
The second was Dana’s Eurovision winner All Kinds of Everything, number one in 1970.
Paul accepted it because of the Eurovision connection and avoided the compulsory final spin.
Scott and Rylan play Speedmates
Paddy O’Connell hosted a Eurovision edition of Speedmates to test how well Scott and Rylan knew each other.
The loser would attend one of the Eurovision semi-finals dressed as Ukrainian drag performer Verka Serduchka.
Rylan correctly remembered the Italian supermarket chain Scott had become obsessed with during Eurovision in Turin: Pam.
Scott correctly answered that Rylan had first asked a hotel cleaner to apply fake tan to his back before knocking on Scott’s door for help.
Rylan failed to remember the title of Scott’s Edinburgh one-man show, The Bjorn Identity.
Scott correctly named the two groups covered by Rylan’s former tribute boy band: Westlife and Take That.
Rylan correctly remembered that Scott had attempted to buy the National Lottery machine Guinevere after it was retired.
The scores finished level at two points each.
The tiebreak
Paddy asked them to estimate the straight-line distance between Turin, the previous Eurovision host city, and Liverpool.
Rylan guessed 3,287 miles.
Scott guessed 1,257 miles.
The actual answer was 749 miles, making Scott the winner.
Rylan therefore had to dress as Verka Serduchka during Eurovision in Liverpool.
Rylan blamed The Proclaimers and their reference to walking 500 miles for distorting his sense of distance.
Handover
Scott handed over after celebrating his Speedmates victory and reminding Rylan about the costume awaiting him in Liverpool.
