Chris’s surname became a Game of Thrones problem again

The final series of *Game of Thrones* had arrived and people immediately resumed making the same jokes Chris had heard for years because his surname was Stark.

Chris had originally avoided the programme and learned to reply “winter is coming” simply so he had something to say when strangers made House Stark references.

More recently, he had watched enough of the series to understand what people were talking about.

Scott was still overwhelmed by the scale of it.

There were too many characters, costumes, locations and plot lines for him to feel completely relaxed.

The pair noticed another online trend too.

People who had never watched the programme seemed almost as keen to announce that fact as fans were to discuss the premiere.

Lizzie reviewed the hen do

Listener Lizzie returned after the hen weekend the show had helped prepare her for.

Rather than simply ask whether it was good, Scott and Chris made her review different parts of the weekend like a travel critic.

The women who had organised the event were effectively being marked on whether the activities, surprises and general hen logistics delivered what had been promised.

Scott liked the review because hen weekends involved so much secret planning that the bride rarely knew what she was agreeing to until it was already happening.

Ariel Free found the throne to the stars

Radio 1 at Work then reached a company in Andover which supplied luxury motorhomes used on film and television productions.

Ariel Free began the link sitting on one of the toilets.

It turned out to be an unusually famous toilet.

The company had provided motorhomes for major actors, and staff listed names including Robert Downey Jr, Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt among the people who had used the facilities.

Scott immediately described it as a throne to the stars.

The company also revealed the strange things celebrities and productions had left behind.

One memorable find was a pair of bright-yellow pants believed to have belonged to Robert Downey Jr.

There had also been cocktail sausages hidden around curtain rails and other items which proved a luxury trailer still became messy after weeks of filming.

Innocent injuries looked suspicious

The show also started hearing from people whose partners became suspicious after seeing unexplained cuts, bruises or scratches.

The injury itself might have an entirely ordinary explanation.

The partner’s first thought was often that something romantic or sexual had happened elsewhere.

Scott thought the logic was bizarre.

A small scratch below an eye or a bruise from ordinary life somehow became evidence in an imaginary cheating investigation.

The subject would continue through Tuesday and Wednesday.
