Scott forgets something important
Scott’s fiancé Sam unexpectedly arrived in the Radio 2 studio during the programme.
Sam said Scott had left home without saying something important and was still waiting to hear it.
Scott worked through the possibilities, including the bins, a birthday and whether he had forgotten to remove something from the freezer.
Sam eventually reminded him that 17 April was their anniversary.
Scott admitted the beginning of their relationship had been uncertain enough that they did not have an entirely obvious anniversary date.
Sam regarded the day he first texted Scott as the official beginning, while Scott questioned whether a text message truly counted.
Listeners then shared couples who celebrated several possible anniversary dates because they could no longer remember which one was correct.
The Birthday Game: Amy
Amy turned 35 and had a rescue dog who once took himself for a walk around the usual route when the weather was bad.
She shared her birthday with Victoria Beckham, Sean Bean and Claire Sweeney.
Amy liked both 1980s rock and newer pop, including Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding.
Her first spin was T. Rex. Amy rejected it as slightly too old for her.
The second was Harry Styles’ Sign of the Times. She liked Harry but said it was not one of her favourite songs and chose to gamble.
Her compulsory final spin was Fragma featuring Coco with Toca’s Miracle, number one in 2000.
Amy immediately recognised it as a strong dance record and was delighted she had taken the risk.
The Music Police
Scott solved several short cases in quick succession.
Julia from Wellingborough’s mystery was identified as Vengaboys’ We Like to Party!.
Mark from Sutton Coldfield had spent around five years searching for a song containing the line “Hello, can you hear me?” Scott identified it as Billie Myers’ Kiss the Rain.
Hannah’s fragment, “Maybe I’m foolish, maybe I’m blind”, was Rag’n’Bone Man’s Human.
A more difficult case came from Lisa in Bath.
She remembered a recent song with Spanish lyrics and a phrase that sounded like “piña colada, oh na-na-na-na”.
The case was left open for listeners to investigate.
Eurovision’s London pre-party
Scott looked back at the Eurovision pre-party in London.
He and Rylan had introduced Mae Muller, while Rylan also introduced Sweden’s Loreen.
Scott admitted making an early exit because it was approaching midnight and he needed to get home to the dog.
Listeners offered names for leaving without saying goodbye, including an Irish goodbye, a French exit, a backdoor boogie and doing a Houdini.
