Old Innuendo Bingo clips were living on TikTok
Scott and Chris had noticed old Innuendo Bingo clips resurfacing online, often uploaded by people reacting to material which had originally gone out on Radio 1 years earlier.
One cricket commentary clip sent them back into the archive and reminded them how long some of those moments had continued circulating after the original broadcasts.
It was another example of the show discovering that its old audio now had a completely separate life on TikTok.
The quiz asked whether animals burp
The scientific question of the day was beautifully simple.
Does this animal burp?
Camels were among the examples.
Scott reasoned that an animal with that much going on internally probably could.
He was right.
Frogs prompted an even longer diversion when he remembered warning signs near his home showing toads crossing the road.
The actual quiz became secondary to finding out why local roads apparently required amphibian traffic management.
Miserable Gavin entered the show
Then came Gavin.
Gavin did not seem impressed by very much.
The more Scott and Chris tried to offer him things to enjoy, the more his natural pessimism became the entertainment.
He was soon christened Miserable Gavin.
The programme also fitted in Hook-up Higher or Lower and the weekly celebration of Bamboleo Wednesday.
By the end, Gavin had effectively become a new experiment: could Radio 1 force a naturally miserable listener into enjoying himself?
The answer would be tested the following day.
