Phoebe had caught a television cheat red-handed
The Big Wheel of Punishments was no longer just an idea.
Listener Phoebe, from Cambridge, had supplied the first proper case.
She and boyfriend Luke had agreed to watch *Squid Game* together.
Then Phoebe walked into the bedroom.
Luke had the laptop open.
He was watching ahead.
The betrayal had been discovered in real time.
Scott treated the story as if Phoebe had caught him in a much more serious act.
For this programme, skipping ahead was serious enough.
Listeners had designed the wheel
The audience had been asked to suggest punishments.
Radio 1 assembled them into one enormous wheel.
The options included:
stand on a roundabout wearing a sign saying TV CHEATER.
Watch the next episode in French.
Death.
Feed your partner grapes while naked as they rewatch the episode.
Buy the wronged partner a takeaway.
Or binge-watch an entire series of *Peppa Pig*.
Scott asked Luke which he feared most.
Chris thought Peppa Pig might actually be worse than some of the alternatives.
The wheel narrowly avoided death
Chris spun.
The pointer passed:
death.
Takeaway.
Peppa Pig.
Roundabout shame.
Then stopped on:
watch the next episode in French.
Scott loved the absurdity.
*Squid Game* was already Korean.
Luke was now required to change it into French.
No English subtitles.
No assistance.
Simply sit through the next instalment while Phoebe watched it however she liked.
Luke accepted his sentence
The punishment would happen that evening.
Luke understood the terms.
Scott and Chris considered the justice system complete.
More importantly, the feature now had a template.
Any listener betrayed by a television cheat could nominate the offender for future punishment.
The Big Wheel would return.
Missing band members filled the quiz
Don’t Look It Up asked Scott and Chris to complete band line-ups.
BTS provided one challenge.
Willow Smith’s collaborative music world provided another.
The presenters repeatedly discovered that knowing a band exists is much easier than remembering every member.
And because it was Wednesday, Bamboleo remained untouched by the new justice system.
