The lying stories kept coming
Chris’s dental confession prompted Scott to remember his own experiences of being called out.
He had once told a personal trainer that his diet was basically salads and chicken.
The trainer looked at Scott’s actual weight and said:
“You’re lying to me.”
Scott then had to send photographs of everything he ate.
The point was not that people enjoyed being caught.
Sometimes they had specifically hired somebody to stop them lying to themselves.
The show asked listeners for more moments where another person had looked at the evidence and simply refused to accept the story.
Taylor and Jack were almost too good at Brother or Lover
Taylor, 23, and Jack, 26, both from Nottingham, joined the game.
Scott, Chris and the team asked the standard deliberately intrusive questions.
Had they ever had a bath together?
Yes — when younger.
Would Jack tell Taylor if an outfit was unflattering?
Not necessarily.
Had Jack cooked Taylor a romantic meal?
No.
What did Jack wear to bed?
Vest top and pyjama bottoms.
Did Taylor do well with boys?
Jack said she did.
Had they spent recent New Year’s Eves together?
Not really.
Every clue seemed to push the pair towards siblings.
Nearly everyone chose brother
Listeners were overwhelmingly convinced.
Taylor’s tone sounded sisterly.
Jack’s comments about her dating life sounded too relaxed.
The shared childhood bath felt decisive.
Most of the production team agreed.
Only producer Travis stayed with lovers.
Then came the reveal.
Lovers.
The rest of the team collapsed.
Taylor and Jack had been in a relationship for years.
The apparently sibling-style answers had been completely genuine — they had simply misled everybody.
Greg, Jordan and Vick were preparing for a summer break
Radio 1 was also building towards a major on-air holiday.
Greg James, Jordan North and Vick Hope were going away together around the UK.
Travel abroad remained complicated, so Radio 1’s Summer Break would turn domestic holiday destinations into a station-wide adventure.
Scott and Chris were pleased for them.
They were also slightly annoyed the holiday did not involve Scott and Chris.
Greg joined the show and admitted even he was suspicious about what Jordan had planned.
More radio secrets came out
The “ruining the magic” theme continued with questions for Greg.
The Ten Minute Takeover was discussed.
Greg insisted it was not fixed: the first request genuinely came from the message appearing at the right moment, with later songs selected from the flood of requests.
The mysterious Tenable Boy/Girl-style quiz noises were also explained as coming from a real person rather than Greg doing a voice.
Scott realised the week had become an unofficial behind-the-scenes tour of Radio 1.
The quiz used Radio 1’s own intros
Don’t Look It Up challenged Scott and Chris to identify songs from the specialist intros and production elements they heard every day at work.
There was no good excuse for getting them wrong.
That did not mean they always got them right.
