Management had issued a yellow card over Rasputin
The previous week’s extended *Rasputin* had attracted attention upstairs.
Scott and Chris had been given what they described as a quiet word.
Perhaps ten minutes of Boney M was enough.
Possibly 12 minutes had been even less welcome.
The obvious response from listeners was to demand more.
Texts accused management of depriving the audience of what it wanted.
One caller described the standard three-minute version as only “the tip” after getting used to the extended one.
Another argued the presenters should simply take any punishment.
A four-show suspension became part of the fantasy
Scott repeatedly warned callers that continuing the joke could lead to a four-show ban.
Listeners did not care.
They were prepared to march.
Scott imagined protesters chanting *Rasputin* outside Broadcasting House.
The whole rebellion was obviously absurd.
That was exactly why it worked.
The more management supposedly disliked the long version, the more the audience treated it like forbidden art.
Granny Tinder met a British Navy sailor
Lynette returned with another profile.
Benjamin, 26, was a sailor in the British Navy.
His bio made a joke about being surrounded by “a boatload of semen” and looking for somebody to spend shore leave with.
Lynette was immediately suspicious.
She liked a man in uniform.
She did not like the idea of Zofia barely seeing somebody who spent long periods away.
Then came the old phrase:
a girl in every port.
Scott and Chris insisted that was not a fair assumption about every sailor.
Lynette remained wary.
Scott’s Hollyoaks cameo returned from the archive
The show also revisited one of Scott’s acting moments in Hollyoaks.
Radio presenters appearing in soaps usually play a version of themselves.
That does not necessarily mean the performance is natural.
Scott had to confront old footage and the distinctive awkwardness of somebody used to radio suddenly needing to behave normally while cameras watched.
Chris enjoyed every second.
Bamboleo Wednesday provided the approved long song
If management objected to extended Rasputin, Wednesday at least had one musical ritual nobody could take away.
Bamboleo returned with listener names, callbacks and dancing.
Scott and Chris joked that perhaps the weekly Gipsy Kings feature was the safer outlet for anybody demanding repetitive music.
