11 November 2020: Naked Attraction’s Brian became a Radio 1 legend as Granny Tinder widened the search

Scott had discovered a new television hero

Scott had watched a full episode of *Naked Attraction* and immediately knew one contestant was going to become a show favourite.

His name was Brian.

He was 23, worked in hospitality, described himself as a wine connoisseur and talked about wine with the seriousness of somebody presenting a tasting course.

More importantly, Brian had never seen a naked woman in real life.

*Naked Attraction* was about to change that very dramatically.

Six at once was almost too much

When the lower halves of the contestants were revealed, Brian’s reaction was completely unguarded.

He looked overwhelmed.

He needed a moment.

Then another moment.

Scott loved that there was no attempt to act cool or pretend this was ordinary.

Brian later explained on Radio 1 that it genuinely had been a euphoric, slightly bewildering experience.

School sex education and textbook diagrams had not prepared him for the reality that bodies could look so different.

He felt he had learned more in those few minutes than he ever had from clinical diagrams.

Brian immediately won Scott and Chris over

Scott and Chris got him on the phone.

Brian was just as likeable away from the television edit.

He admitted he had watched the episode with a cheap glass of wine and said the experience of being on the programme remained unforgettable.

Asked whether he had seen another naked woman since filming, the answer was no.

Scott then revealed that, in one respect, he could relate.

He had never seen female genitalia in real life either.

That planted an idea for the following week.

Could Radio 1 somehow recreate Brian’s “first time seeing one” moment for Scott?

Brian enthusiastically supported the plan.

Granny Tinder continued judging Zofia’s matches

Zofia’s grandmother returned with another group of profiles.

The search radius had been widened.

That did not mean the standards had been lowered.

A 47-year-old twice-divorced man called Brian was judged too old for 24-year-old Zofia.

A 23-year-old chef with a bio about being good in the kitchen and bedroom was dismissed for trying too hard.

The feature continued to work because Granny Tinder had no interest in the kind of lines people spend ages interpreting on apps.

If she did not like the sound of somebody, the swipe was immediate.

Chris tried to help with politics homework

During Bangers, the show reached an 18-year-old listener in Southport doing politics homework.

Chris suddenly remembered he actually had a politics degree.

This was his moment.

Unfortunately, possessing the qualification and instantly remembering useful academic material were not quite the same thing.

Scott enjoyed watching Chris attempt to turn an ordinary music call into an emergency politics tutorial.

Brian had given the programme its new obsession

By the end of the show, listeners were still messaging about Brian.

He had gone from being one contestant on a Channel 4 dating show to a full Scott Mills character within 24 hours.

The next logical step, according to Scott, was obvious.

If Brian could face his first naked body on television, perhaps Radio 1 could arrange the equivalent experience for Scott.
