2 September 2020: Scott discovered the countryside still loves voicemail as Carole Baskin joined Dancing with the Stars

Chris’s command centre had already been vandalised

One day after naming his socially distanced desk, Chris discovered somebody had drawn an extremely childish picture on the sign.

Scott immediately suspected somebody from the Breakfast team.

The computer problem had not improved either.

Chris still could not properly log in and had now been given a support telephone number which produced another automated dead end.

Scott’s move to the country had revived the phone call

Scott had recently moved out of London and become fascinated by one difference between city and countryside life.

Everybody phoned him.

Dentists phoned.

Health services phoned.

People phoned to confirm appointments that had already been confirmed.

Scott had even emailed one surgery specifically asking them not to call because he was usually on the radio during the day.

They responded by phoning him.

He began wondering whether anybody even listened to voicemail messages anymore.

Nobody knew what their own voicemail said

Scott and Chris called their own phones to hear the greetings they had apparently recorded years earlier.

Scott barely remembered making his.

They then started ringing famous contacts purely in the hope that they would not answer.

Joel Corry picked up, ruining the experiment.

So did Jordan North at first.

Eventually Jordan allowed the call to ring through, revealing a surprisingly detailed old-fashioned message explaining that people could leave a voicemail, send a text or try again later.

Scott considered that exactly the sort of greeting Jordan would have.

Dancing with the Stars had an astonishing cast

The American *Dancing with the Stars* line-up appeared during the programme.

Nelly was involved.

So was Chrishell Stause from *Selling Sunset*.

Then came the name that stopped the show:

Carole Baskin.

Scott immediately realised the *Tiger King* star was now unlikely to be appearing in *I’m a Celebrity*, because she had already committed herself to another reality competition.

Don’t Look It Up found Bez-and-Bob karaoke

The quiz included company slogans before moving to terrible karaoke covers.

A duo called Bez and Bob had recorded versions of songs including Justin Bieber’s *Baby*, System of a Down’s *Chop Suey!* and DJ Snake’s *Turn Down for What*.

Their performances were so enthusiastically bad that Scott and Chris became immediately fascinated.

The pair would be back in the conversation the following day.
