3 September 2020: Biffy Clyro reviewed their own WAP Live Lounge as Bez and Bob conquered karaoke

Bez and Bob had much more material

The karaoke duo discovered in the previous day’s quiz turned out not to be a one-song novelty.

Listener Maria got in touch to explain that Bez and Bob had built up an entire catalogue.

Scott and Chris heard their version of Toto’s *Africa* and then Evanescence’s *Bring Me to Life*.

The performances had the strange quality of being both extremely poor and completely compelling.

Scott compared them with older cult singers whose lack of conventional ability somehow became part of the appeal.

Simon Neil faced Biffy’s WAP again

Biffy Clyro had recently entered the Live Lounge with one of the most unlikely covers imaginable.

They had taken Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s *WAP* and rewritten it into a festival-friendly Biffy version.

The title became WAB — “Wet As Biffy”.

Simon Neil admitted he had deliberately avoided reading much reaction afterwards because he did not want internet comments to spoil how much fun the band had had making it.

Scott therefore made him listen back live on Radio 1.

“Park that big Biff truck…”

The rewritten lyrics replaced the original sexual imagery with jokes about Biffy Clyro, riffs, festivals and sweaty live shows.

One line about parking a “big Biff truck” in a “teeny wee garage” became the obvious standout.

Simon cringed at parts of the playback but also defended the idea.

The whole point had been to capture the chaotic energy of festivals and gigs everybody was missing.

Scott argued that the result belonged in the great tradition of bizarre Live Lounge choices.

Listeners loved how wrong it was

Texts described the cover as one of the strangest and best things people had heard.

One listener compared it favourably with Arctic Monkeys covering Girls Aloud’s *Love Machine*, still remembered as one of the classic unexpected Live Lounge moments.

Simon said Biffy always liked the challenge of choosing something outside their normal musical world.

If Radio 1 invited them back again, the difficulty would now be finding something even stranger.

Don’t Look It Up became a battle over cheating

The quiz included famous pets and twisted audio.

Questions involved Hayley Williams’ dogs, Matt Edmondson’s dog having an agent and Ed Sheeran’s cats.

The twisted-audio round led to accusations that Chris was interfering with Scott by singing distracting melodies over the clips.

Scott regarded this as quiz tampering.

Chris regarded it as competitive technique.

The final question used Jedward’s *Lipstick*, giving the podcast another reason to end up discussing the twins’ most memorable performances.
