3 October 2019: George discovered he was conceived on a beach with an audience

The move had happened

Scott arrived with the first update from his newly shared home.

Sam had finally arrived at around 9pm.

The spare room now contained what Scott estimated were around 50 bags.

The romantic image of moving in together had immediately become storage logistics.

Scott said he was already looking forward to the famous 5:15 call.

Chris suspected the novelty would wear off.

Glastonbury ticket tactics were ruthless

Tickets were about to go on sale for Glastonbury.

The preparation among listeners and Radio 1 staff sounded almost military.

Groups had shared spreadsheets containing registration numbers, payment details and contingency plans.

Some people were quietly joining more than one ticket group to increase their chances.

That created arguments.

If one person appeared in two groups and got through twice, they could interfere with everybody else’s booking.

One listener admitted a member had effectively been kicked out of their spreadsheet after trying to keep a foot in two camps.

Scott had never heard festival friendship become so procedural.

Matt and Mollie joined the Who Game

Matt Edmondson and Mollie King joined for another round of the Who Game.

The objective remained naming things which had once been familiar enough for everybody to know, but were now dated enough for the others to shout:

“Who?”

The game had become a rapid nostalgia test.

Old television, products and cultural references could suddenly feel ancient even when they had disappeared only a few years earlier.

Scott and Chris liked bringing other presenters into it because the correct level of “who” changed depending on age and memory.

Where Do You Think They Were? returned

The conception feature came back with George.

His dad Ian supplied the story.

George had agreed to learn the exact circumstances of his own beginning.

As always, he rapidly looked less certain once the parent began enjoying the detail.

The location was a beach.

That already sounded less private than most of the feature’s bedrooms, cars and spare rooms.

Then Ian revealed there had effectively been an audience nearby.

Scott and Chris were horrified and delighted in equal measure.

George had to listen while his father reconstructed a supposedly intimate moment which had happened in a place where other people could potentially see what was going on.

The feature had returned at full strength.

Somebody still played FarmVille

The programme also found a listener still playing FarmVille.

Scott and Chris spoke about the Facebook game as though it belonged to an ancient internet civilisation.

For years, feeds had been full of requests involving crops, animals and neighbours.

Most people had moved on.

One person apparently had not.

The discovery fitted perfectly with the Who Game.

Something which had once been unavoidable could become almost invisible remarkably quickly.
