8 August 2019: Curtis Pritchard faced Superfan Steve

Scott had gone full nan

Scott’s studio computer was not working.

That left him reading messages from a large iPad.

Chris immediately labelled it the Nan iPad.

Scott made the situation worse by taking photographs with it, holding the whole tablet up rather than using his phone.

Once Chris had pointed it out, every ordinary action Scott performed with the device looked increasingly elderly.

Scott accepted the joke but not the implication that technology had defeated him.

The salad bar had rules Scott did not know

Lunch had also become stressful.

Scott chose the large container at a supermarket salad bar and filled it with eggs, salad, beetroot and other items.

At the till, the member of staff told him he had barely filled the box and was wasting money.

A medium, perhaps even a small, would have held the same amount.

Scott was instructed that if he chose the large box again, he should fill it right to the top while still managing to close the lid.

Chris thought the advice was excellent.

Scott felt he had been publicly reprimanded for building a salad incorrectly.

Curtis met Steve

Former Love Island contestant Curtis Pritchard was the latest celebrity to face Superfan Steve.

Chris hid in the studio next door with an answer sheet.

Scott told Curtis that Steve was one of his biggest fans.

The quiz then tested Curtis on details from his own life and time in the villa.

Steve repeatedly answered quickly enough to sound obsessive.

Questions reached details including Curtis’s birthday, recent nights out and his final Love Island date with Maura.

Curtis seemed impressed rather than immediately suspicious.

That was exactly what Scott and Chris needed after Cheryl’s appearance had made the prank much more widely known.

Superfan Steve survived another booking

The danger was no longer simply whether the celebrity would believe one fan knew so much.

The danger was whether they had already seen the viral clips and knew Steve was Chris.

Curtis did not immediately expose the trick.

Scott was delighted.

The feature still had life after Cheryl.

Slough entered the Stark Guide

Chris also turned his increasingly grand travel series towards Slough.

The guide began with an old reference to the settlement as a forest associated with 200 pigs, then moved through John Betjeman’s notoriously unflattering poem and the town’s later appearance around *The Office*.

Chris celebrated Slough’s enormous industrial estate and connections with companies including Mars and Lego.

He also noted the transport links which made it easy to leave for London, Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow or Heathrow.

That last section sounded less like praise than intended.

Scott still considered the guide a service to the town.

The recurring joke was that Chris delivered every fact, flattering or otherwise, with the same prestige-documentary confidence.
