25 January 2019: The Friday Extra Show apologised for karaoke and replayed Daniel Radcliffe’s Innuendo Bingo

Friday Extra Show: everyone was tired

Extra podcast edition

Thursday night’s karaoke had happened.

Scott, Chris and Lewis Capaldi had broadcast from a small karaoke venue on Instagram Live and continued later than a sensible weekday radio team probably should.

Producer Will then carried on until around three in the morning.

Unfortunately, Will was also responsible for producing the Friday Extra Show.

Chris opened the podcast by making him apologise.

The edition would be much shorter than normal.

Chris reviewed his own singing

Chris had emerged from karaoke with an unexpectedly high opinion of his voice.

A little echo, he argued, transformed him into a reasonably competent singer.

Lewis was obviously on another level.

Scott, according to Chris, was essentially talking his way through songs rather than singing them.

The clips sounded exactly like the aftermath of a night everybody had enjoyed more than planned.

The archive had to rescue the podcast

Because the team had almost no new Friday material prepared, Chris opened the archive.

The choice was perfect given Wednesday’s announcement that Innuendo Bingo was returning.

He replayed Daniel Radcliffe’s classic appearance.

Daniel sat opposite Scott with a mouth full of water while carefully selected radio and television clips became increasingly impossible not to laugh at.

The sequence included pistachios, cyclists being “blown off” and the famous line about helping a cousin “jack off” something.

Water went everywhere.

Daniel completely committed to the game.

Daniel called it an island of brilliance

At the end, Daniel praised the experience as an unusually enjoyable break in a long run of repetitive film interviews.

Scott immediately wanted to use the quote on promotional material.

The archive clip demonstrated why Innuendo Bingo’s return mattered.

A simple idea, two people with water and carefully selected accidental innuendo had produced some of the show’s most memorable celebrity appearances.

A chaotic Friday still served the comeback

Chris had begun the podcast apologising because nobody was organised enough to make a proper edition.

By the end, the lack of preparation had accidentally produced the ideal trailer for what was coming in February.

Innuendo Bingo was back.

Daniel Radcliffe reminded everybody why listeners had missed it.
