17 January 2019: Olivia discovered she was a Benidorm beach baby

Tom’s sister wanted her own answer

A week earlier, Tom had learned that he was conceived after his parents watched *Toy Story*, listened to Marvin Gaye and moved from a Ford Escort into Travelodge room 24.

His sister Olivia heard the story.

Instead of deciding ignorance was safer, she contacted Radio 1 and demanded her own edition of Where Do You Think They Were?

Her birthday was months away.

She did not care.

Scott realised the feature was changing.

People no longer needed a birthday reward.

Some simply wanted the family history.

Father Julian returned

Dad Julian came back on the phone with the same extraordinary level of detail he had shown for Tom.

This time the setting was Spain.

Olivia’s parents had gone to Benidorm and stayed at the hotel later made famous by the television sitcom.

They spent an evening drinking and dancing.

Julian remembered Enrique Iglesias and, more painfully for Olivia, the dance record “Horny.”

Scott made him relive the soundtrack while Olivia listened.

Hotel or beach?

Eventually the couple left the bars.

They reached a choice.

Turn left towards the hotel.

Turn right towards the beach.

Scott asked Olivia which outcome she hoped for.

She desperately chose the hotel.

Julian revealed they had gone to the beach.

Olivia was officially a Benidorm beach baby.

She immediately regretted asking.

The fact she had watched the TV series *Benidorm* with her father for years without him mentioning any of this made the revelation even stranger.

Jack received a TripAdvisor review of dating him

The show also returned to listener Jack, whose romantic life had generated a remarkable message.

One former date had effectively reviewed him in the style of TripAdvisor.

Jack had archived the conversation along with around 25 other old chats from dates and exes because he preferred getting them out of sight.

His dating-app profile even used a quote from somebody who had dumped him, describing him as one of the nicest people they had met and saying they could not fault him.

Scott thought presenting testimonials from failed relationships on a dating profile was both bleak and ingenious.

Harry Potter fandom reached the house

Another listener described the extent of her Harry Potter obsession, including the way it had influenced her home.

Scott and Chris had spent the month discovering that people could organise entire parts of their lives around one interest.

Harry Potter was at least less complicated than learning your parents had chosen a beach in Benidorm.
