14 November 2018: Lewis Capaldi played Music Video or Adult Video

The Live Lounge cheese mystery continued

Greg James had hidden Babybel cheeses around the Live Lounge.

Listeners immediately accused Chris of stealing them after the performance.

Chris denied it.

He had gone looking for the cheese because he planned to share it with the team, but claimed somebody else had already found it before he arrived.

The conversation then produced an unexpected fact.

Listeners told the show mice were lactose intolerant.

Scott and Chris had spent weeks assuming cheese was the obvious bait for the Live Lounge Mouse because cartoons had taught them that mice loved it.

Now even that piece of mouse knowledge was being challenged.

Lewis Capaldi road-tested Music Video or Adult Video

Lewis Capaldi had performed “Grace” in the Live Lounge and then joined Scott and Chris for a new game.

The transcript repeatedly misrecognises Lewis as another artist, but the references to “Grace” and the video comments make the guest clear.

Chris explained that a friend had discovered something unexpected.

Adult videos had comment sections.

People did not simply watch.

They reviewed, complimented, complained and discussed what they had seen.

That created Music Video or Adult Video.

Scott read a comment.

Lewis had to decide whether it appeared beneath one of his music videos or beneath an adult film.

“It looked like it was so much fun to film”

The first comment said the video looked as though it had been enormous fun to make.

Lewis guessed adult video.

It was actually under the video for “Grace”.

Another commenter said their computer had refused to play a video for more than an hour but they had finally got it loading and thought it was great.

Lewis correctly decided somebody had shown extraordinary patience for an adult video.

Then came:

“It’s insane to watch him grow so big, so quickly. I love this guy.”

The wording sounded deliberately designed to confuse him.

Lewis correctly identified it as one of the adult comments.

Another comment asked whether someone could “take the dude with the long hair on your right”.

Lewis recognised that one from his own video.

The game worked immediately because perfectly innocent music-video comments became filthy when removed from context, while adult-video comments could sound like ordinary fan enthusiasm.

Scott and Chris knew they had found another guest feature they could reuse.

A waitress used Call Me Maybe on a napkin

The show then asked listeners about creative ways people had given them a phone number.

James had been working as a waiter when two women finished their meal.

After clearing the table, he found a napkin.

One of the women had written a version of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” lyric:

“I just met you, and this is crazy, but here’s my number…”

James was already seeing somebody.

He did not call.

He was still impressed that somebody had actually used a pop lyric as a real-world pulling technique.

“Careful: you are extremely hot”

Megan had an even better example.

She regularly bought takeaway coffee from the same shop.

The cup normally carried a warning telling customers that the beverage they were about to enjoy was extremely hot.

One day, the barista crossed out several words.

The label now read:

“Careful. You are extremely hot.”

He added his phone number.

Megan texted him.

They actually went on a date to Ogmore Beach in Wales, complete with Prosecco and chocolate-covered strawberries.

Then he ghosted her.

Later he messaged to explain that he had not really been single and had a girlfriend living in Dubai.

Megan eventually encountered both of them together.

The girlfriend even spoke to her without apparent drama.

Scott was amazed that the cheesy coffee-cup line had not only worked but led to one of the most complicated stories of the afternoon.
