Joe Lycett loses the bet
Auntie Margaret and Auntie Pauline passed 100,000 Instagram followers after Radio 2 listeners joined the campaign.
Their total had already reached around 138,000.
Joe Lycett was therefore committed to attending the BAFTAs dressed as Elizabeth I.
The aunties thanked Scott and his audience and teased special plans for Late Night Lycett.
The UK’s 12-point spokesperson
Scott knew the identity of the person who would deliver the UK jury’s 12 points during the Eurovision final.
He described the choice as huge and possibly the best since Nigella Lawson.
Listeners guessed everyone from Ncuti Gatwa and the Spice Girls to Elton John, Alison Hammond, Diane from The Traitors and even the King.
Scott ruled them out one by one while struggling not to reveal the answer.
The identity was due to be announced on The One Show that evening.
The Birthday Game: Alison
Alison from Northumberland turned 49 and loved live music.
She had recently seen Depeche Mode and the orchestral dance show Pete Tong’s Ibiza Classics.
Her birthday weekend included Gary Davies’ Sounds of the 80s show in Edinburgh followed by Take That in Glasgow.
Alison had twice held Gary Barlow’s hand at concerts.
On one occasion, she believed she was recording him singing to her but discovered she had taken only a photograph of their shoes.
Her first spin was Tony Di Bart’s The Real Thing, number one in 1994.
Scott immediately described it as exactly the sort of forgotten 1990s dance record Alison wanted.
She accepted it without spinning again.
Her unused alternatives were Art Garfunkel’s Bright Eyes and S Club 7’s Don’t Stop Movin’.
Alison remained convinced she had made the best choice.
The Wonder Years
The Friday Wonder Years began in 1991 and continued through the decade with artists including Lenny Kravitz, Faithless and Tina Arena.
Handover
Scott handed over to Sara Cox after teasing the Eurovision spokesperson and beginning the 1990s Wonder Years.
