Scott’s wardrobe was disappearing one item at a time

Scott had noticed something on Instagram.

A friend had borrowed a jacket during colder weather.

Two weeks later, the friend was still wearing it in photographs.

Then Scott began recognising more items.

Trainers.

T-shirts.

A scarf.

Things which had once lived in Scott’s drawers appeared to have migrated permanently into somebody else’s wardrobe.

Chris admitted he had previously done something similar to Chinese Dave, borrowing clothes and simply taking an extremely long time to return them.

Scott thought there was an important distinction.

Borrowing something once was normal.

Continuing to wear it on different days until it became part of your own regular wardrobe was theft by gradual social acceptance.

Local news moved to the Isle of Man

The show continued collecting stories which were enormous locally and almost invisible nationally.

The Isle of Man supplied the memorable headline:

“Man hid pork down trousers.”

Scott immediately understood why the story had made local news.

It was specific, strange and impossible not to read.

The feature had started with a singing donkey.

It was now becoming a national archive of very small crimes, unusual animals and headlines whose entire appeal could fit into six words.

Zara Larsson came from the Live Lounge

Zara Larsson joined after performing in the Live Lounge.

She said she had actually felt unusually relaxed.

She had not rehearsed some of the newer material enough to know every ad-lib in advance, so she had accepted that whatever happened would happen.

That made her less nervous rather than more.

She also discussed stripping back a Khalid and Normani song for her cover and enjoying the chance to use harmonies.

Then Scott told her Radio 1 had found the ultimate Zara Larsson fan.

Superfan Steve was back.

Steve knew more than Zara, except when the facts were wrong

The questions covered Zara’s career, winning Sweden’s Got Talent, celebrity crushes, her boyfriend, meeting Beyoncé and obscure personal details.

Steve repeatedly answered before Zara could.

Then the quiz claimed Zara was five foot six.

Zara immediately objected.

She was five foot four.

Scott tried to tell her the answer sheet said otherwise.

Zara was not prepared to let a fake superfan and a Radio 1 production sheet overrule her own body.

It was one of the best possible failures for the format.

Steve was supposed to know everything.

The celebrity herself had just proved the research wrong.

Her first email address was preserved forever

One question asked Zara for the name of her first email address.

She remembered it.

The address included Adidas and zebra.

Scott loved the kind of teenage detail which sounded ridiculous years later but had once been chosen completely seriously.

Steve also knew when Zara first met Beyoncé at the Ericsson Globe and the year involved.

By the time the prank was revealed, Zara had become suspicious but had not definitively worked it out.

Scott confessed that Steve was actually Chris.

Zara laughed and said the unsettling thing was that she could imagine a genuine fan knowing that much.

Superfan Steve had survived another celebrity.

The incorrect height had come closest to exposing him.
