Chris was on honeymoon
Scott returned after Chris’s wedding without Chris.
The groom was away on honeymoon in Ibiza.
Listeners had already noticed photographs online and joked about whether Chris had somehow combined the honeymoon with another DJ set in a nightclub toilet.
Scott confirmed this was a genuine holiday.
There was no urinal-side booking involved.
Love Island was reaching the final
The *Love Island* final was that evening and people were treating it like a major live television event.
Some cinemas were even showing the episode.
Listeners who could not watch live were already planning to avoid social media, friends and notifications until they caught up.
One had netball.
Another was going to see Bianca Del Rio.
Others were working.
Scott immediately saw the possibility for a game the following day with somebody who had successfully avoided finding out what happened.
Liz wanted to marry into Radio 1
Then Scott opened an email sent at around quarter past midnight.
Liz had been scrolling through Instagram when a depressing pattern occurred to her.
All the Radio 1 men seemed to be in relationships.
Chris had just married.
Greg James was engaged.
Other presenters and Newsbeat staff appeared to be taken too.
Liz admitted she had developed a vague ambition to marry into the Radio 1 family.
That way, she could enjoy the social side without having to do the actual job of becoming a presenter.
Scott decided to help.
The remaining options were assessed
They began going through Radio 1 men who might still be available.
Cel Spellman received a positive but slightly future-focused response.
Liz thought he was attractive and going places, but perhaps one for later.
Alan Dedicoat was dismissed not because he lacked appeal but because Liz thought keeping up with his energetic lifestyle would be exhausting.
Jordan North did much better.
Liz liked the idea that he was clearly progressing at Radio 1 and remembered seeing old photographs of him meeting Scott years earlier.
Then came the overnight presenters, including René LaVice.
Liz hesitated because a 1am show did not fit her desired lifestyle.
Scott pointed out that being on at 1am did not make somebody less eligible.
It simply made them harder for him personally to meet around the office.
By the end, Liz had not been formally matched with anybody.
But Scott had at least proved that the Radio 1 family was not completely closed.
Chris still won Bangers from abroad
Chris had left Scott a Bangers choice despite being away.
Digger driver Sam admitted he normally preferred Chris and liked dance music more than pop.
Scott tried One Direction’s “Drag Me Down”.
Chris’s selection was Magnetic Man.
Sam chose Chris.
Even on honeymoon, he had managed to beat Scott.
