20 November 2017: Ghostbusters called the man who stopped replying

Matt Edmondson had a mushroom song

Scott and Chris discovered that Matt Edmondson had a small song he routinely sang while cooking mushrooms.

It was exactly the sort of private habit that makes perfect sense to the person doing it and sounds ridiculous as soon as it is described to anybody else.

Listeners were invited to contribute their own songs for everyday tasks, from cooking and cleaning to routines that had somehow acquired a soundtrack over the years.

Ghostbusters returned

The programme also revived Ghostbusters, its service for listeners who had been getting on well with somebody only for that person to suddenly stop replying.

Roisin had met a man online who seemed promising. He was 6ft 4in, worked as a tailor and ran his own company. They talked frequently, went on a date and Roisin thought the connection had been good.

Then he disappeared from the conversation.

Her messages had clearly been seen, but he stopped responding.

Scott and Chris decided that was enough to send in the Ghostbusters.

The ghost answered

The uncomfortable part of Ghostbusters was calling the person who had disappeared and asking them directly what had happened.

Roisin’s date actually answered.

He said she had been “great craic”, but suggested distance, future plans and the possibility of moving abroad had made him decide not to pursue the relationship.

Roisin finally got the explanation that the unanswered messages had denied her.
