Annie Mac had started Christmas without Scott
Scott had long enjoyed trying to be the first Radio 1 presenter to play a Christmas song each year, but his tradition had been unexpectedly ruined in August.
During an A-level results request hour, a listener called Roscoe asked Annie Mac for Band Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”. Annie played it.
Scott was appalled that Christmas had officially begun on Radio 1 without him and jokingly decided he might simply ignore the result and launch his own festive season again later.
Chris Hughes explained the nightclub circuit
Love Island’s Chris Hughes rang after hearing the previous day’s discussion about contestants’ promotional club videos. He found the clips funny too and explained just how busy the post-villa personal-appearance circuit had become.
He had dozens of bookings lined up and was sometimes doing eight or nine appearances in a week. The workload helped explain why social media had suddenly filled with so many near-identical videos announcing which club an Islander would be visiting that night.
Jaguar Skills delivered for Hillside
Luke’s homemade Hillside Festival was finally taking place that weekend. The original dream of booking Jaguar Skills for hour after hour had never been realistic, but Jaguar had promised to see whether he could help.
He did.
Instead of appearing in person, Jaguar Skills created a bespoke Hillside Festival mini-mix. For Luke and his friends, it was a far better outcome than simply being told their wonderfully optimistic booking form was impossible.
Dan Walker became Yasss FC’s adviser
Scott’s fantasy-football obsession had now reached the point where Dan Walker was giving him advice on how to improve Yasss FC after the opening 59-point weekend.
Instant Dragons Den also returned with a new invention: a voice-activated fan that could recognise its owner and follow them around rather than needing to be carried from room to room. The show called it a “stalker fan”, giving the pitch an immediately memorable name even if the engineering remained theoretical.
