Scott and Chris were on Breakfast
Scott and Chris were covering the Radio 1 Breakfast Show while Nick Grimshaw was away filming. Both sounded the effects of the bank-holiday weekend, and they had only recently been together at Reading Festival for a Sunday broadcast.
Scott had also found one of his own late-night phone notes, written at 1.46am, telling him to “put out garage tunes under my name”. He could not remember exactly what grand career plan had inspired it, but wondered whether people should be forced to act on the ideas they leave themselves after midnight.
Becky Hill entered Instant Dragons Den
Singer Becky Hill became the celebrity inventor in a special edition of Instant Dragons Den.
Her idea was an app for house hunters. Instead of seeing a For Sale board and then trying to remember the road, find the correct estate agent and search through listings, a user would simply photograph the sign. The app would identify the property and immediately display the price, details and other useful information.
Becky confidently asked for around a million pounds, largely because she admitted she had no idea what it cost to build a serious app.
The response was that the idea was not ridiculous, but estate agents and property websites were already moving in similar technological directions. Becky therefore left without the imaginary investment.
Music was still running out
Scott and Chris revived their theory that pop music was gradually using up every possible combination of notes. They played newer tracks against older songs with suspiciously familiar melodies or structures, always stressing that similarity did not automatically mean copying.
They also returned to the angry world of Arsenal Fan TV, whose post-match reactions continued to provide clips considerably more dramatic than Scott’s new interest in fantasy football.
