Body Fixers came to Radio 1
Three members of E4’s Body Fixers joined the show: cosmetic doctor Dr Esho, make-up artist Alex and hairstylist Daniel.
They explained how the programme helped people with hair, skin, appearance and confidence problems, often after previous treatments or styling decisions had gone badly wrong.
Chris immediately tested the limits of the format by asking whether they could do rather less conventional work, including giving somebody a tail or turning him into something “half beast”. The professionals were more accustomed to helping people feel like themselves again than creating mythical creatures.
Innuendo Bingo became very wet
The Body Fixers team then took on Innuendo Bingo. One of the guests had a particularly distinctive laugh, which made keeping water in anybody’s mouth even more difficult.
The result was a forceful edition with Scott repeatedly admiring just how comprehensively the participants were spraying one another.
Love Island’s club videos became a genre
Scott and Chris had also become fascinated by the promotional videos former Love Island contestants were recording for nightclub appearances. The clips tended to follow the same formula: a selfie camera, a club name, the date and a promise that the night would be enormous.
Theo Campbell’s effort for Matchbox in Reading stood out for his promise that everybody would get “a little bit litty”. Scott stressed that he liked the Islanders; it was the identical promotional-video style he found so compellingly awkward.
With A-level results arriving that day, the show also reassured listeners that disappointing grades did not close every route in life. The conversation included famous examples of people whose school results had not prevented later success.
