25 June 2008: David Hasselhoff Interview and Snakes in the Toilet Movie Pitch

David Hasselhoff rings in from Los Angeles to chat about his new social network Hoffspace, his upcoming UK visit, and a distinctly odd movie idea that Scott dreams up after hearing several bizarre stories about snakes emerging from toilet bowls.

The Hoff calls the show from his Los Angeles kitchen on a sunny morning, fresh off the success of his “Jumping” remix hitting number two on the charts and notching nearly 12 million downloads. He’s launched Hoffspace, a social networking site that’s already attracted thousands of members from around the world, and talks enthusiastically about building community and eventually running Hoffspace festivals. Scott plays some of the messages fans have left on Hoffspace, including a harmonica player named Tammy and various devoted admirers, while David discusses his appearance on Channel 4’s Friday Night Project and potential future plans, including looking to buy a castle in the UK.

The show then pivots to Badly Bleeped TV, where Scott plays clips from Ready Steady Cook and other shows with key words removed, testing whether he and the team can guess them. Later, Scott shares a series of increasingly alarming news stories: a man bitten by a snake while fishing, a six-foot python discovered in an Australian apartment’s toilet, and a California woman who found a four-foot snake in her loo. This inspires Scott to pitch an ambitious film idea—”Snakes in the Toilet”—and he invites listeners to call in with plot suggestions. Sarah from Bruton proposes an elaborate scenario involving a rival hotel sabotaging a new luxury hotel’s opening night by releasing snakes into the plumbing, with the Hoff as the owner who must save the day.

Scott also mentions his upcoming role in Hollyoaks: he’s playing a policeman who actually speaks, with filming scheduled for Thursday, and promises to bring fellow cast members into the studio afterwards.
