Mark became a DJ without warning
Producer Mark had gone along to an event in Hyde Park where Scott was DJing, only to be asked to take over when another DJ failed to appear. Mark had never DJed before and did not normally go anywhere near the decks at Radio 1. Scott gave him a very quick explanation of what to do and then left him to it.
Mark ended up playing to around 5,000 people and loved the experience. On the Tube afterwards, still carrying Scott’s headphones and some USB sticks, he was recognised by people who had seen him playing. Scott declared him a spectacular blagging success and asked listeners for their own stories.
Leicester City supporter Ross then explained how he had taken a job on Andrea Bocelli’s stage crew to get inside the stadium for the club’s Premier League trophy presentation. After helping remove the stage, he managed to remain inside and see the historic match and trophy lift.
Scott declared war on boiling changing rooms
A spell of hot weather prompted Scott to complain about shops that somehow made their changing rooms feel even hotter than the street outside. Listeners joined in with their own experiences, including Amy, who had tried on shapewear in a department store and felt as though she was going to pass out.
Scott broadened the complaint to gyms, where people could shower after exercising only to start sweating again while getting dressed.
Chris had lost his luggage near the Arctic Circle
Chris called from a sailing boat near Norway after another complicated leg of his extreme-festival trip. He had been on the boat for hours, one of his colleagues had repeatedly been sick and his luggage had gone missing. Chris was therefore still wearing the same clothes after two days of travel.
The festival-ticket competition repeatedly interrupted the planned show, including Bestival tickets, and by the end Scott admitted there had not been time for all the blagging stories or Real or No Real.
