Louise apologised for meeting Scott far too enthusiastically
Listener Louise called because she had always imagined she would be relaxed and respectful if she met a celebrity, then discovered that theory was completely wrong when she spotted Scott at a Coldplay concert.
After another audience member pointed him out, Louise began waving, tapped him on the shoulder and became considerably more tactile than she had intended, including stroking his head and face.
Weeks later she still felt embarrassed enough to ring the programme and apologise. Scott accepted, while agreeing that having a stranger suddenly play with your hair was an unusual introduction.
Scott thought blue ticks had become too easy
Twitter verification had once seemed rare enough to carry some status, but Scott had begun noticing blue ticks on people he did not consider public figures.
He argued that verification made sense for celebrities, musicians, broadcasters and others likely to be impersonated, but questioned why somebody with no obvious public profile needed the same badge.
Listeners debated whether a blue tick was still about proving an account was genuine or had simply become an online status symbol.
Luke’s Jaguar Skills booking form was spectacularly optimistic
The homemade-festival stories produced Luke, who was trying to organise an event with his friend Connor and had approached Jaguar Skills’s agent.
The booking form did not inspire confidence.
Asked for the venue capacity, Luke described a two-bedroom bungalow with six rooms, seven if the porch counted, plus six acres of land suitable for “two or three horses”. The festival would open at 1pm and close, in his words, “to the break of dawn, y’all”.
The proposed running order began with slackline championships, an iPod battle, beer pong and an amateur DJ called Grant.
Then came the headline booking.
Jaguar Skills appeared at 6pm.
And 7pm.
And 8pm.
And 9pm.
And 10pm.
After a fireworks extravaganza, he was scheduled to return again after midnight.
Luke also admitted that when they were unsure whether Jaguar Skills would agree, they had considered putting him on the line-up anyway because the DJ performs in a mask and they thought they might be able to get away with somebody else.
Scott explained that this was very much not how professional festival bookings worked.
