Nicole Scherzinger cancels
Nicole Scherzinger was due to play Innuendo Bingo but cancelled at the last minute because she was unwell. Chris scrambled for replacements and secured Jamie Laing and Stevie Johnson from Made in Chelsea, who arrived after filming and agreed to a three-way game.
Scott admitted he genuinely watched the programme and understood its relationships. Jamie joked that producers had already decided Stevie fancied him and created their next storyline before the water began.
Made in Chelsea answers the call
Jamie and Stevie had little time to prepare but threw themselves into the game. Jamie appeared particularly likely to lose control and both visitors quickly discovered that watching Bingo online did not prepare them for sitting opposite Chris with a full mouth of water.
Their willingness rescued a feature that had seemed impossible only hours earlier. Scott thanked them for responding so quickly, while Chris added another successful emergency booking to his campaign record.
Actual Hollywood enters the café
Paul Hollywood had visited Radio 1 that morning. After the response to Chris’s Secret Bake Off, the team took him to a small café one floor below the studio and asked him to repeat the experiment for real.
Nothing had been arranged with the worker behind the counter. Chris and Paul queued, ordered a packaged banana muffin and began discussing its quality in front of her. Paul handled it, split it open and calmly judged the bake while Chris attempted to use Hollywood phrases beside the man himself.
The ordinary muffin could not provide the layers or finish of a Bake Off creation, but that only increased the awkwardness. The worker appeared stunned rather than impressed, and Chris regarded standing beside Paul Hollywood during his own radio feature as one of the best moments of his life.
Chris seeks professional sabotage
Scott’s next dance was approaching, so Chris called Kevin Clifton, who was partnered with Frankie Bridge. He explored whether Kevin might make a strategic error to improve Scott’s chances, before the conversation inevitably reached the point where deliberately dropping Frankie sounded less like campaigning and more like bodily harm.
Greg James then played Real or No Real. Claims included Pharrell Williams’s extraordinary share of British radio music in 2003 and whether Dev’s first words on Radio 1 had been “I’m not on, am I?” The latter sounded plausible but was invented.
