A costume causes concern
Scott’s outfit for the next Strictly Come Dancing performance had begun to worry the team. Chris searched for costumes while Scott refused to reveal the theme, leaving open the possibility that the wardrobe department had either produced something spectacular or was playing an elaborate joke on him.
The previous day’s Strictly Come Bingo was already spreading online, particularly Ola Jordan’s reaction to being soaked by Steve Backshall. Scott confirmed that another ballroom pair would face the game the following week.
Chris becomes Paul Hollywood
With the Great British Bake Off final approaching, Chris had become fascinated by the seriousness with which Paul Hollywood handled, opened and inspected cakes. Scott suggested he take that style into an ordinary café where nobody knew a judging session was about to happen.
Chris went to a familiar café near Radio 1, bought a coffee and a slice of marble cake, then asked the woman serving him whether it was her speciality bake. He placed it in the centre of the table, pulled it apart and studied its construction before announcing that it was “actually not a bad bake”.
The worker watched with understandable confusion as he discussed its layers and finish. Chris eventually admitted that it tasted good, but only after turning a routine purchase into a full critique. Scott called him the master of the cringe situation, while the resulting video captured how little warning the café had received.
Scott reviews Ed Sheeran’s dancing
The video for Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” had attracted praise for its ballroom choreography. Now regarding himself as a dancer, Scott offered a professional assessment.
He argued that Sheeran’s partner created most of the movement by spinning and travelling around him, while Ed often remained in place. Scott insisted he could perform much of it himself and expected Ed to return the favour by analysing his next Strictly routine.
Alice gargles through the facts
Alice Levine played Real or No Real. One claim concerned the CIA headquarters branch of Starbucks and whether security prevented staff writing customers’ names on cups. The discussion produced alternative identities including Beyoncé and James Smith before Alice finished the game without scoring.
The Secret Bake Off had worked well enough for Scott and Chris to begin thinking about another café. They could not yet know that an actual Paul Hollywood encounter was only a day away.
