Girls Aloud return
Girls Aloud joined Scott ahead of their first arena tour together in more than a decade.
Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh discussed returning to rehearsals and working through a catalogue containing 21 UK top-ten hits and four number ones.
The group said the scale of their back catalogue made it impossible to perform absolutely everything.
They hinted that one or two songs had been removed without naming every omission, although Nadine suggested their cover of I Think We’re Alone Now was unlikely to survive the final cut.
Remembering Sarah Harding
The tour was designed partly as a celebration of Sarah Harding.
The group explained that her voice and image would remain part of the show rather than her absence being ignored.
They wanted the concerts to feel joyful while still recognising the emotional reason the reunion mattered so much to them and their fans.
Scott reflected on how naturally the four members still fell back into their familiar group dynamic, including being unable to agree completely on the set list.
The Birthday Game: Lisa
Lisa from Birmingham turned 52 and calmed her nerves with a Percy Pig before going on air.
She listened to the feature regularly and normally shouted at other contestants to stick or twist.
Lisa liked Prince, Alanis Morissette and live music and had recently seen Heaven 17 and Pink.
Her first spin was Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You. Lisa said she preferred his earlier music and rejected it.
The second was the Spinners’ Working My Way Back to You. She called it a classic but gambled again.
Her compulsory final song was Martine McCutcheon’s Perfect Moment, number one after her departure from EastEnders.
Lisa and her quiz friends used “having a Martine moment” whenever they answered a question correctly, making the result unexpectedly perfect.
The Music Police
The Music Police moved an hour earlier to make room for Girls Aloud.
Thousands of listeners believed they had solved the current case, and Scott tested the leading suggestion before confirming the verdict.
New music from Jack Savoretti and Natalie Imbruglia
Scott also gave a world-exclusive first play to Jack Savoretti and Natalie Imbruglia’s Italian collaboration Ultime Parole.
Jack had returned to studying Italian while creating an album in tribute to his late father, while Natalie said her Sicilian father would also have been proud.
