13 January 2011: Marshmallows, band names and Malcolm Butter

Marshmallows, band names and Malcolm Butter

Scott and his flatmate had spent a quiet evening making a synth track on their phones, so the programme set about finding their new band a name. Scott’s method was to use Wikipedia’s random-article button, producing possibilities including Vehicle Registration Plates of Uruguay, while listeners began finding names for bands they were not even in.

Chris then tried to make himself an indispensable part of the project by calling Scott’s flatmate in a disguised voice. As Malcolm Butter, an adult baby who claimed to have been in both the Foo Fighters and B*Witched, he asked to join the group and offered a succession of terrible band names.

The flatmate answered five calls before finally giving up, remaining exceptionally polite even as Chris became more bizarre. Beccy also completed her phone-made version of Justin Bieber’s Baby, and the programme returned to the increasingly tangled plot of Trapped in the Closet.
