12 December 2008: Scott proved he could still talk up to Perry Como

Scott had been on television with Tom Jones

The previous night’s National Lottery appearance gave Scott material about sharing a programme with Tom Jones and moving between television presentation and his normal radio routine.

He demonstrated an old radio skill

Scott took pride in being able to talk over a song introduction and finish exactly before the vocal began. Perry Como and Elton John records became tests of timing, with the skill treated as both slightly old-fashioned and still genuinely satisfying when performed cleanly.

Fashion and The X Factor completed Friday

A fashion expert called Angela, whose laugh itself became memorable, commented on clothing around the building. The public were asked to describe Fergie in three words, and X Factor Friday supplied the now-regular end-of-week reality-show material. The episode gave Scott a chance to show that beneath every ridiculous feature there was still a presenter who cared deeply about hitting a vocal perfectly.
