17 September 2008: The Pussycat Dolls took over Beccy Cam

Beccy Cam gained some unusually glamorous visitors

The Pussycat Dolls joined Scott and were persuaded to head upstairs so listeners watching Beccy Cam could see them. The webcam had begun as a way to turn an ordinary Radio 1 desk into a running visual feature, and a major pop group appearing in shot immediately justified all the attention it had been receiving.

The Dolls joined What’s Occurring?

The group also became part of the day’s game, folding an international guest appearance into the same clip-based feature used with the regular team. Scott preferred guests who were willing to play rather than simply promote, and the Dolls were treated accordingly.

Beccy found a way to put cats on the toilet

Beccy’s Classifieds discovered a cat toilet-training seat, prompting stories about just how far owners could train their pets. The discussion included a colleague with remarkably well-trained cats and gave the programme another pleasing collision between glamorous pop-star access and an advert about feline bathroom habits.
