I noticed on Friday that DJs were making a more concerted effort not to mention brands. Previously, they'd mention AirPods, TikTok, various supermarkets amongst other things.
However, when Matt went to say Find My Friends (an Apple app), he said "Find My..." then tailed off. After a song, they referred to the app when reading texts as "Find Friends". Then, when Jack referred to TikTok on Chart, he called it the "clock app".
Wonder if Aled's had a chat with them?

I haven't heard an anthems mix just yet where I've thought I know what's coming but I imagine there is a certain amount and ones that have to be refreshed every so often

You're right though; they refresh them every so often so they don't get too stale

I agree which is why I think Anthems, if it has a place, should have more variety. Its not very surprising when you hear the mixes so often that you know which track is coming next.

Yes, heard some of the former colleagues' social tributes on BBC News. I was referring to her current R1 colleagues on the radio.

The R1 playlist has a new Hot Recurrents category which seems to be recurrents getting more than just spot plays & for older songs making a resurgence e.g. Murder on the Dancefloor.
Curious to hear your thoughts. I think it's a good thing & reflects that under 30s listening tastes aren't limited to what's in the charts. I remember friends loving Running Up That Hill in 2022 for example, as someone in the demographic, one of whom discovered it for the 1st time.

Such a shame to lose a broadcasting legend who had such a wide musical taste.
Excellent tributes from the DJs.
However, I'm surprised Rickie, Melvin (Charlie made one on Dance Anthems), Vick & Jordan didn't make one (didn't hear Dean & Vicky due to work). Some people seem keener to discuss Saltburn (been big for over a month) than the loss of their colleague...
ETA: I don't have social media (despite being on a forum) so haven't seen if they've done one on there.

It looks like the Future Sounds slot is going to be extended to 9pm from Monday-Wednesday but remain 2 hours on a Thursday. Whereas Sian's show is going to be Monday-Tuesday but not confirmed for Wednesday.
Plus, it mentions Best New Dance is going to be live. @Dan18F1 in the chat mentioned Lauren Layfield but the new talent person could do Thursday & Friday Early Breakfast as another option.

I've noticed they've put those circular tags on programme images for themed days before e.g. 10s on Bank Holiday Monday or Ibiza Weekend.

Thanks, discovered it on BBC4 in lockdown when they were doing more repeats. Brought it to a new generation. Nigel Hawthorne is such a good actor.

Heard Moxie's Residency on Thursday night. She mentioned being on R1 3 times before, one of which was In New DJs We Trust, whoooooooo!
If Residency DJs count, she's also surely gotta be a candidate for the hottest R1 DJ thread. ?
