The other weird one is Katie. She never moved to London but stayed there. I can't see her doing that with her baby.
Going Home has had no feel or consistency since Jordan left.

He's taken to social media to explain. Hopefully he didn't feel forced to say something. Really important message to share anyway.
He said on the show before he went off that he wanted to talk about it when he was ready so I don't think he was forced.
Glad he is in a good place anyhow and so important he talked about it.

Think it was a last minute switch and the changeover from Friday afternoon to Saturday morning might’ve been a bit much given the travel from London to Manchester.
Yes - I didn't realise Jack was sick.

Lauren in for Jack on the chart today.
I wonder why not James..
Lauren did ok today but nothing will beat that final cover Jordan did of the chart where he binned the format and basically did it as a regular show.

Tinea Taylor is on Friday early breakfast on 10th January.
Interesting another previous Friday Early Breakfast presenter is back.

Lawyers are all over these stories. They might be exaggerated or some details wrong but it is based on something they could stand over in court (normally!)

There were already some comments on X about Dean's behaviour at Radio 1. All in all none of this is good for his career.

I do wish they’d do more with Christmas limbo week than just anthems. Been my complaint each year. Letting them do playlists and requests would actually be so much better or even if Radio 1 did favourite content from the year (guests, Big Weekend, features etc). I’ll be turning off for limbo week again
Good point - they could do best of Greg, Live Lounge, Matt and Mollie (not sure there were any best bits of Dean and Vicky) and Going Home. Of course if Going Home was included they'd have to start after Jordan left 😛
-
To be honest I don't think the first point is that important.
But the Anthems thing at christmas is now really dull - this is now 6 years of it.
I'd rather it was very playlisted and just text ins and shouts.

The more surprising thing about Radio 2 is Vine still there. Tina is the obvious replacement and most people seem to prefer her in that slot than him. He is a parody of himself now.

I think I'm a Celeb benefits two sorts of person (a) those that have been forgotten about a little and need their career revived (The Vernon), (b) those that are very talented and just need a little more exposure to take their career to the next level (The Jordan).
Unless somebody acts like an idiot, it can generally only be a good thing.
For Dean - as others have said, I am sure it can boost his "talking head" / "panellist" profile. Radio wise who knows, I can't really see him ever getting much promotion at Radio 1 again. That's not to say he might not get another 5 years at the station in his current slot or weekend slots. But it'd be pretty rare for anybody to get a big daytime slot, get demoted out of it and come back.

Weekend early breakfast imo is pointless very few people are up and agree wouldnt be worth investing in. The 10pm evening slot however I do agree we need a live evening show. Arielle (unlikely now) would have been my choice
I am even older - I remember how great Mark Radcliffe was on that slot (Lard wasn't even named as co-presenter at that stage).

Listened to Scott this morning with Jordan being off Capital...
It was a great listen - really sounds like a natural home for him.

There's been some really trashy reports about Zoe recently. As others say, we'd be less likely discussing this if it was a bloke. https://www.express.co.uk/celebrity-news/1927323/zoe-ball-bbc-radio-2-salary-backlash
There is clearly big stuff going on in Zoe's life so this is very inappropriate, regardless of her salary.

It seemed like Katie Thistleton felt the same way, she was making a big thing of Jordan's numbers while also celebrating Greg's numbers.
The way Aled and Jordan fell out at the end I wouldn't be surprised if Jamie had the nod to share it.
Very possible. The language does feel a bit more personal than you normally expect in writing in a business email. In my work world, what we'd say on a call and what we put in writing is quite different!
Katie is incredibly loyal to Jordan so I am sure she privately felt embarrassed by what Jamie had done and this was a very public way of doing something about it. Vick also re-shared Katie's post highlighting that bit.

Which for me is even more baffling than the Going Home situation as even though I can't stand Jamie Laing, I recognise some people do like him but I can't say the same of Danny Beard.
Which begs a bigger question - it feels like this goes beyond specific shows so what has brought people to Radio 1 as a station.
Are we aware of any (mainstream) shows that lost listeners?

Could it be some fans of Roman have jumped to Radio 1?
Capital is definitely an older demographic so I'd be shocked if that was the case. As said somewhere else, they have maybe come from Kiss.

The Going Home figures demonstrate that some of us on this forum are no measure of the wider audience.
It baffles me that the show has gained listeners but proves I know nothing 😛

Surely part of the issue is that they are trying to recreate some of the chaos that used to happen with Jordan.
The difference being that Jordan is one of the best DJs of the current time and knew exactly what he was doing to make great radio. It is even more apparent now that he is on Capital and can be so tight and slick with his links. He still has the odd funny mis-speak but it is obvious now how crafted the chaos was with him on Going Home to make great radio. In Jamie's case it is just random chaos.

It's been a few months now and I listen most days while working, overall it's definitely not as good as Going Home V1. But, I do still enjoy the format...I like the way it moves onto something else every half an hour & that there's plenty of listener interaction with the questions etc.
For me, the biggest issue with the show is Jamie. He seems like a nice enough chap, and I've even found him to be quite amusing/endearing at times. But I think his personality is much better suited to a podcast environment, because he says things which are too random, veering off course & he doesn't really respect the tight format of a show like this. Aled has clearly tried to make him 'work', as he has been paired with Matt, done some shows with Spencer Matthews & now apart of the Going Home trio, but I don't think he ever really will 'work'...for a whole host of reasons like I said above & the un-relatability factor.
Just Vick & Katie together are superior, and it really shows up the fact that Jamie isn't needed - which doesn't help of course that he is off quite a bit, so you regularly get to hear this version of the show anyway.
Ranking the pairings we have:
1st = Vick & Katie
2nd = Katie & Jamie
3rd = Vick & JamieKatie is the glue that holds the show together & is the real reason I persist with it. She's much better at keeping Jamie in check & that is obvious during shows when it's just Vick & Jamie. They're virtually unlistenable imo.
I just gave up completely I'm afraid.
Will Manning on Capital is a much more pleasant listen even if I prefer Radio 1's music.

That's probably what they want to avoid. Scott (and Chris) spent quite a lot of time away from drive/afternoons when taking into account their own time away, then X amount of weeks covering the breakfast show. It makes sense to use Sam & Danni going forward now they're familiar with the breakfast audience, and they did a decent enough job from the bits I heard. It'll disrupt the schedule less.
After the shock Jordan exit and shock (but welcome) promotion of Matt and Mollie to daytime we can't say anything for sure when speculating but Sam and Danni feel like the most natural next Breakfast presenters. They are very good but age alone makes them the most serious contenders for a long-time Breakfast Show.
