  1. I agree. Scott was on form as usual, and his and Chris' No. 2 shows was a brilliant listen. Some forgotten tunes that haven't ever been played or not been played on a long time on Radio 1. The Greg & Rosin Rogue promises was a great idea as well. Perfect to round off the day. In previous years I've switched off after breakfast, but Dean was a good listen and he sounded like he was having a great time on air interacting live with listeners. Only two minor gripes were breakfast starting at 8 as opposed to 7, and an even minor one... Vick & Jordan's show still being referring to as "Going Home" on Christmas Day (although I acknowledge that is the show brand... and it was effectively a Christmas special of that show).
  2. Ohh yeah! Thanks for that. How could I forget lol. Ignore that original comment. I'm looking forward to their show along with the rest of the schedule. Makes a change from the previous years of fill in 'celebrity/popstar takeovers', which is the point I'd tune out. I'll probably be listening most of the day this year
  3. That's true. Although it was listed as finishing at 6 until the past day or two so something's changed. NYE will be the next time we hear Jordan on air next as well. Shame he's not on this week with Vick as it would've likely been an extra fun listen in the run up to Christmas. Hopefully, whatever it is, it's not too serious and he's okay.
  4. Interesting that the timing of the chart has changed... So it's 15 minutes shorter than it'd usually be.. rather than 15 minutes longer (because no Newsbeat)
  5. Oh dear... In normal circumstances that would be a very poor show from the BBC... However, it must be behind the scenes staff related... As there cannot be any chance they can't find ANY presenter to cover any of tomorrow/Friday or next week....
  6. Pretty much in agreement with you on all of those points. Dean has settled in well since I last passed comment a few weeks after the changes. I can't see anymore changes on Aled's part till part way into 2023 at least. Weekends lost several strong presenters, but a year on and it's still just as good. Some may disagree but, after a year of rotating Friday early breakfast, I personally think they should appoint a permanent set of presenters (cover for early breakfast still rotating). I'd chose Sam & Danni for this who have cropped up a fair bit in the past year covering various slots.
  7. There are very few new Pop releases over Christmas and the first week of January so that could be an explanation.
  8. Presumably Monday is when the Christmas and New Year Top Of The Pops specials are being filmed as Jordan is off as well as Clara, and has been announced as the replacement for Fearne Cotton.
  9. Good to see Jordan still doing the NYE show. It's become almost a tradition now, like Scott on breakfast. I did wonder whether he would still do it or not now he moved to drivetime. Good to see James Cusack pop up again as well.
  10. It could, of course be subject to change so keep an eye over the coming weeks. It could be possible Greg is off all that week (with Matt & Mollie not being on their own show on Christmas Eve).
  11. Week running up to Christmas has been published, at the moment... It appears to be normal, only difference is Matt & Mollie are off on Christmas Eve instead with Katie in for them, and Greg is off on the 20th, with Matt & Mollie are in for him.
  12. I like the look of that schedule. I assume Scott & Dean are live, with the rest pre recorded. Shame breakfast doesn't start till 8, I used to like waking up and tuning straight in. The Greg James rogue promises programme sounds interesting indeed. It's a running thing on his show. No 'filler' playlists either. Double Scott Mills on Christmas day too.
  13. Christmas Eve I'll go with: Early Breakfast Jess Izzatt Breakfast Show Matt & Mollie Mid Morning Dean McCollough Afternoon Katie Thistleton (Christmas Eve is usually wall to wall Christmas songs, so maybe no party anthems) Christmas Official Chart with Scott Mills Normal Friday night lineup.
  14. Will make a change from wall to wall 'artist takeovers' if it is a recorded Xmas special of their show. Maybe one for directly after the breakfast show?
  15. They didn't announce any presenter for December's Friday early breakfast like previous month's, so I assume Jess is doing them in the run up to Christmas. On a similar note, I was listening back to Friday's show... This month's host, Alex Mansuroglu is a decent listen if anyone hasn't heard him. Am I right he still presents on Kiss at the weekend?
  16. Pre Christmas Presenters intake... I used to enjoy the themed days across the Christmas period (Greatest Hits/Anthems), Best of the Live Lounge, Big Weekend Highlights, Chart of the year, 10 hour takeover etc.
  17. I'm going to wait to make any firm prediction, but I can't see it being much different to the past couple of years (main presenters finishing week before Christmas, with the 'B team stepping in). Christmas presenters from Boxing Day to NYE/NYD. I think Scott will reveal the Christmas no.1 on Christmas Eve and I'm hopeful he does the Christmas Day breakfast show as is tradition (even if it does fall on a Saturday). I've enjoyed Jordan doing the New Year's countdown for the past few years but I can see him stepping down from that now he's drivetime host. Dean McCollough or Charlie Hedges would be a good shout for this.
  18. It went into NYD last year (minus 6pm-1am on NYE), but yeah, usually starts on Boxing Day. No doubt we'll get anthems shows again. My favourite Christmas Eve programming in the past was when they did a pre recorded 'bangers special' with Scott & Chris some years back. A 10 hour takeover wouldn't be a bad idea... would be better than back to back Christmas hits. That schedule looks a bit suspect in parts.. Of course it maybe Scott's choice to be off on Christmas Eve (and that's not my business to speculate otherwise) but I can't see him not unveiling the Christmas No.1 for a second year running. There was good excuse on Christmas Day last year with him on Breakfast. We'll find out soon enough I guess.
  19. Another former R1 voice on Radio 2 today... Spoony who used to do Weekend Breakfast in the mid noughties covering for Steve Wright. He has appeared on R2 a few times now as the main cover for Trevor Nelson's Rhythm Nation, but this is the first time he's popped up in the day.
  20. I think it was mentioned at the start of the week that Matt Edmondson is solo this weekend. Best New Pop I assume is recorded later in the week, so it's easier to keep the Friday early breakfast host on for an extra half hour to do it live. Either way, whatever reason they're off, it's their business.
  21. I think so, Gary Davies used to be his cover, although he is covering the breakfast show Mon-Wed next week. Radio 2 seem to be getting better with cover presenters, with Vernon Kay now a regular cover for Steve Wright and Rylan.
  22. I do miss them on breakfast, but that ship has sailed sadly. If Scott is going to be on Christmas Eve, it will be the Christmas Official Chart which falls that day. I hope he still does Christmas Day breakfast even with it falling on a Saturday. Will be interesting to how much live programming there is on Christmas Day this year. Last year there was the BFBS takeover which was a really good idea, would be good if that came back.
  23. That doesn't sound too bad. Dave Pearce never appeared last year so maybe that ship has sailed. I'd be surprised if Pete Tong popped up on R2. It's probably going to be one of Scott, Rylan or Ritchie Anderson on air going into the New Year. There were a few years when R1 just went into back to back music on NYE, thankfully they returned to live presentation a few years back, as in my opinion it's one of the best nights of the year to have live audience interaction (especially with WhatsApp messaging available now).
  24. BBC One is mostly repeats this afternoon, I agree it wouldn't have hurt to put out the highlights of Out Out Live! about now. However... The majority of those watching One at this time would likely not have interest in it, those wanting highlights will more likely watch it back on iPlayer.
