  1. It's great to see Chris doing so well after going through this massive life changer.  I love how honest he has been in speaking about it, and the message is a really powerful one that will hopefully bring a lot of awareness and I'm sure will help others massively.

Hearing him talk about it on the Crouchy podcast was brilliant too - they have a huge audience and it must have been really daunting to put himself in the spotlight on such a sensitive and personal experience.

He really is a top bloke, I'm so glad it was caught early and he can spread the word now.

  2. I think Ellie has definitely proven to be been a great fit.  The story of her finding a flat and Roger the cat was a real ice breaker for the feel of the show as a whole I think.

Add to that Scott giving Ellie his ticket to the Brits and the stories that came from it, I really think she adds value. Not only is the rapport between her and Scott already brilliant, but she also comes across as a funny, down to earth presenter in her own right.  I think she's fab and will only continue to get better as the show progresses.

I would initially have agreed with the thought that she could be a co-presenter, and I suppose her prominence in the show is such that she could be seen as that, seemlessly.  However, for me the show is a bit too guest-heavy for a co-presenter.  That's probably just the nature of having such a high-profile show, I think it might feel like too many voices to try to get a fairly short (and sincere) interview in with a huge star. Back in the days of R1 when they could play fun games with the guests then yes, but I get the impression that Scott needs to go for serious and genuine with most of the ones he has had so far.

I mostly prefer the bits of radio without guests - that goes for all radio shows, not just Scott's.  The 6.30-8am where it's just Scott, Ellie, and Tina, are my favourite bits of the show for sure.  Which is a long winded way of me saying that Ellie was a great choice 😄

  3. @Opalmoon I couldn't agree with you more. Scott and Chris made genuine magic happen on the radio and I'm starting to think that nothing will ever equal that era.  I often listen back to the old podcasts, and I think you've hit the nail on the head when you say they were effortlessly funny together.  They could make the most simple of things laugh-out-loud funny, and it must have been because they were real friends who just used to make each other laugh, which in turn made brilliant radio.

They have both gone on to do such big things apart, probably more than if they had carried on together at Radio 1, and I'm really pleased for them both.  I don't think you're stuck in the mud (if you are then I am too) - a Scott and Chris podcast would be a dream come true. I'm not sure it could even be a thing while they are both working at different stations, but I hope they can make it work one day.  With Beccy producing, that would be the icing on the cake!

I would love for Scott to be a guest on Chris & Tom Kerridge's podcast, if nothing else.

Who knows, maybe one day Chris will find himself back at the BBC on 5Live and we'd have more chance of having them back working together then.

  4. I finally got around to watching the live tour recording online. Very funny watch.

For those that were wondering, there was barely a mention of R1, so if anything was said it was either on other nights or edited out of this one. It’s two hours long, so not sure how that compares to the actual live show or how much could/would have been edited.

Would definitely recommend it for fans of the podcast though. The guinness joke is included - and I personally don’t think it’s as shocking as they’ve been teasing. But that’s probably the point.

Next week is gonna be Breakfast radio dream or nightmare(fitting it all in) Greg,Scott,Moyles and Jordan all on at the same time

I had the same thought, summer games on R1, Scott on R2, Sian back with Jordan and Chris… so much to listen to!!

I have Scott on this morning but already have fomo because no doubt Greg is talking about what might be happening next week

  6. Another big fan of the Capital breakfast show here.  I didn't expect to stick with it, but I try to listen back every day (I have Greg on every morning because I am a huge fan of his style and can't think of any other presenters who can do what he does solo on that show every day). I tend to catch up on Capital, either at 10.30am when RMC start, or in the afternoon, depending on what's on in work.

I never was the biggest fan of Vick & Jordan together on going home.  It had some funny moments, but for the most part it seemed to me like Vick playing herself down and giggling a lot,  and Jordan reining in his tangents and was mostly an awkward listen for me.

Jordan with Chris and Sian has turned into a must listen.  I get that it's very different from R1, ads, shorter links etc are some of the criticisms. But, they have a lot of features, they seem to make the links count and get into interesting topics, different topics every day. Maybe it's just my age, but I feel like they are celebrating all things average that most people would be able to take part in. It's laugh out loud radio that I really wasn't expecting it to be, having never been a Capital listener before. I miss Sian already, but Kemi is doing a great job filling in, she seems a great fit so far.

Breakfast is the only show I listen to on Capital, so I can't comment on how repetitive it gets throughout the day. I imagine it's no different to a whole day of R1 at the moment though. I find that Capital seem to sprinkle more variety into the playlist daily and throw a few old school tracks in there to mix it up more. To me it feels like the Radio 1.5 I have been waiting for. Playing the Birds of a Feather theme tune is acceptable here and it's okay to admit to going to bed at 8pm. Perfect!

Maybe I haven't been listening long enough for the playlist to grate on me yet. I am fidning the R1 playlist repetitively dull at the moment, but that's partly because I am not that much invested in the presenters/shows that are on after Greg at the moment. In the same way I am not interested in anything else on Capital apart from breakfast.  When Scott said 'Oh god it's not Tiesto with The Business again?' during the last lolathon I'm sure I wasn't the only one thinking the same! I was listening because it was Scott & Chris.
