Unless that is a week where Gary is not available to cover? but yes will seem weird I bet that changes this week coming Gary will be on
-
Adding to this, there is one ILR station I have been a DJ on, when you joined them even as a cover presenter, you got a jingle package voiced for every slot on weekdays incase you covered it..... How they used to do it was have the voiceover artist just record your voice the rest of the jingle was in an audacity/audition/ableton project and all the PD would do is open that paticular project "Drivetime" and drop my name tag in the gap so all they ever had to purchase from the voice artist was the name of the new presenter

You would think so, someone decided to drop the features from day 1, that would have been probably an exec producer, someone in charge of production teams, I am guessing that kind of detail is below the level of Helen Thomas. Same at R1 Aled doesn't get involved in nitty gritty like that anymore. Yeah jingle packages are very intrecate and personalised. So for Scotts breakfast show he had sevrral versions of his main intro, beds, tops of hours, donuts etc etc. These all make up the package, and he definately had Christmas ones done, special ones for different days of the week, like the Friday one, I would imagine his cartwall had a page dedicated to show openers only then another for beds, another for idents. On top of that they have to make sure each presenter has a generic "xxx xxx on BBC Radio 2" suite of jingles, for stuff like when they cover a different slot (although very rarely does the Breakfast host cover another slot like drive or weekends unless there is a proper emergency) and for events like the Monarch dying, where the upbeat and usual imaging is dropped. Then for Scott (and Gregs show) they had to create a set of the openers, beds, idents that reflected someone else covering, so far Gary has been using a hybrid ident that was probably created last minute Tuesday last week that is Scotts opener mixed into Gary's generic R2 jingle. Today OJ used a generic "Radio 2 Breakfast Show" one, over on R1 this week Dean has been using a generic version of Gregs opener which just says "Radio one Breakfast". I know they actually did a versons of Scott's one for Sara as she was/is the proper deputy. The tale tale sign will be if she now does not cover two weeks of 20th April onwards which was Scotts pre planned Spring break and Gary stays in place or Mark covers. This will be the signal she is getting the gig. I don't think it will be announced on air the BBC will press release the new host beforehand. They need to really. Back to jingles, a station like R1/2 Heart has to have imaging to cover every eventuality, so someone has probably looked at this problem and it has been decided to keep the current theme going in a generic form until a new theme comes in. This happend at the end of Zoes time where Mark kept her theme going for the "Gap" weeks, until Scott started, and the same happened on R1 between Grimmy and Greg, Scott used Grimmys themes in the "Gap" four days.

Saw this last night as well.. The guy seems shocked himself, maybe a bit smug and seems he checked his facts, seems like someone in the BBC ratted out to the Mirror on Sunday afternoon

100% the features are what they would miss, and yes you are right the average joe chucking on the radio would not notice no. From a geeky programming and management point of view, as an observation, I was very suprised they didn't take it off air ASAP and still haven't, as soon as the features dropped. and replaced with the generic presenter "Radio 2" package (they all have generic packages made in case they cover another show for example the ones Gary uses when he covers Vernon) until a new host is installed with a whole new package. The other side of me says "why should they take the regular consistent theme away from the listener through no fault of the listeners" so there is that argument as well. In the grand schedme of things my point is really miniscule, but still....

Agree with this... It feels to me that they were worried the story/information posed a reputitional risk and acted. It also seems that on the surface they have done the right thing by their standards but with little information and this so called "vacum" it has only made the situation worse for all involved. I agree with the Vine sentement they are doing now what they wished they had done to others. It is a real shame for Scott and I just hope they are taking care of him and Sam and the potential complainant. Not forgetting Sam is BBC staff as well on production side, so his role is no doubt affected by these events. They mentioned new information, which could have been the Mirror about to break the story and the BBC made a deal with them to give them a few days to investigate the matter then the Mirror could break the news. Above all, I feel so sorry for all involved, it is a tragety for all of them, Sam and Teddy included and not fotgetting his wider family, his parents are both still alive ableit seperated, and in their 70s/80s and his elder brother and family as well. I just hope Scott can find some way of coming back on air. I feel we will not see or hear of him for a few years now, certianly not this side of Christmas, and he must be totally devestated that his dream job was snatched away in an instant. I know he reads here as does Greg and Jordan, maybe not at the moment but he has done before, so I hope he can see the majority of his fanbase and listeners are behind him. I think this has hit this community harder this time because of who it is, and the fact we all love and admire and aspire to him, and that it's kocked us for six. I am just so sorry for those affected by it, all of them, and hope it kind of blows over so he can have a period away from the spotlight and recover his career.

Could well be as they don't want to be left open for liable. Reports coming out now that he was in crisis talks last week before exiting.. all very strange. From what Vine was saying today sounds very much like it could be the case that because it wasn't reported to them until recently he is in breach of contract and the have asked BBC Press (BBC news asking BBC Press wtf asking themselves..) if Scott declared the issue in 2016. If he had would that have ended his R1 career there and then?

It will trigger a game of musical chairs, if R2 have any sense they'll put a safe pair of hands in, someone everyone knows and trusts, I don't think Greg is going anywhere off of 1 until at least 2028. He will be about for the big birthday next year and suspect he wants to beat Moyles record. As for R2, the obvious choice is Sara, she has been the bridesmaid for breakfast all the way through the 2010s, and was dropped from cover in 2018 when she took drive, and has been covering again. A sure sign is she hasn't been used to cover this absence. Other times Scott didn't show up went sick or had a day here and there she depped, she has been nowhere near it this last week, instead they drafted in ohhh Gary Davies. Interesting to see what happens next week as Gary is in for Vernon for two weeks, so maybe some Coxy cover then or OJ. If I were a betting man I would say Sara to breakfast and OJ to drive. That is the "safe" and "obvious" move and give Phil Williams overnights. Whatever the "plan" it will take several weeks if not a month to enact, as people will have to move other commitments about quickly to accom the change. So we may get a few Goodier weeks, or a few Davies weeks. Will be interesting to see if A. Scott's imaging is dropped tomorrow which Gary has been using up to today, and B. if Gary addeesses it tomorrow. SO far the only one to address it has bee Vine, and that was less than a minute of coverage.

Yeah and they did the same thing got a job with a commercial rival, Jordan was off air the next day Ken stayed for weeks
-
I think James should cover Greg, it's weird it takes a duo to cover Greg
-
I think Sara is definaitely the Breakfast dep again now after her hiatus post evans
-
I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
-
Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now

Purley on the R1 Dance station.. Someone on DS said don't expect to see any changes to the schedule on the new stations however if they are taking on Capital Dance with this, which they clearly are, which has live presenters 7am - 10pm except for the 11am mix then they'll surely have to have a proper scheduled set of shows. At the moment Arielle is the only "live" per say show and only "live" a few days a week with earlier shows being repeated Thursday Friday and Saturday. Connor and Charlie are clearly pre records but was this only for the time it was online only and they have already got a schedule ready to go on day 1? also of note is that Charlie is taking over a podcast as well as starting a new project with podcasting which makes me wonder if she is about to step back from Dance Anthems all together to concentrate on those and Connor takes over? So you could have Arielle doing 9-12 weekdays live then someone else 12-3 and Connor live 3-6 on R1D and doing Dance Anthems on a Saturday.

Talking on this - I wonder who Scott's main cover will be, we have had OJ Sara and Mark in for him now since he took over? curve "ball" would Zoe become the cover now she's established back on weeeknds? or do you think they are easing Sara back into it ready for a two week holiday in Summer? Sara was the main cover for Evans's tenure and got dropped when Zoe took over for Fearne then Nikki and Gaby they seem to have moved away from this "outsider" coming in to cover and especially now not Gaby or Nikki as they have other gigs
-
It's a good package but sung by the House Gospel Chior so they can always resing a bit of it I wonder if it will get a refresh for 2026? Zoe's seeemed to be refreshed every year although in her tenure stayed as the same theme and of course he will have Christmas versions
-
He'll for sure be there for the next birthday celebration in 2027 to host a special breakfast show
-
I think Greg will be around for a long time - I reckon the inner geek wants to break Moyles record then go on for ten years and maybe quit in 2028
-
I see Charlie is listed on Dance Anthems on that day but she is doing her "All the anthems" show in Brighton 230-730pm so either will be more Glastonbury coverage or Connor
-
What will be Scott's first song on breakfast?
Lee E replied to onlyME's topic in The Scott Mills Show
Sounds like sort of we are going back to Moyles style themes - I hope so and that his show has a big intro, like Gregs does and that Moyles used to have and Chris Evans had on R2 -
Seems Spoony has had brain surgery over Christmas. Hope he is ok. Nice to see OJ has some weekday cover slots as well. Wonder if Mark will be the go to cover now with Scott? Gary in for Vernon as well.
-
Maybe they havent adjusted the schedule pages yet but that could be the first week of the new shows, Breakfast and Afternoons are not labelled
-
Take that back was 14th January so maybe there will be 2/3 weeks of Gaby covering
-
I see Gaby is covering breakfast so I assume she is covering the following week as well and Scott starts on like the 6th or something? do you remember when Zoe started it was like the 2nd or 3rd of Jan 2019 wasn't it?
-
I think its posted on DS that OJ wanted away from overnights so he is the looser in this i see, unless they are waiting for Coxy to leave then he could take drive
