Thought I'd start a thread to discuss this BRILLIANT show, really nice to hear Scott talking more, doing more links, the show really brought out more of him and his knowledge of the songs was unreal Also he adjusted his act for R2 really well and was faultless with the News intros and text numbers and all Plus noticed he had jingles and ramps for R2 so maybe we will start to see a transition Will this show become a fixture? also loads of good feedback on DS forums

Just listened back, and yes bloody brilliant radio, he so needs to get that slot permenently before he leaves R1 I am so convinced its only a matter of time and he will be in it, the current schedule changes are suttle but getting rid of the "get rid of Moyles" strategy, I reckon Aled is installing Mills the best DJ on the busiest shows, Mon-Thu breakfast and the chart so he is todays version of someone like Blackburn or Mayo, and Grimmy will end up somewhere else on the schedule (Mon-Thu 7-9 and only annie on a Friday?)

I think that's because they covered for Grimmy at short notice with his production team, (sure they spoke to Fefe like Grimmy does as well) and Tina doing news, where as today, it will be Mark Lockett and team Mills producing as its "planned" Grimmy leave hence it's basically a Mills show but in the morning as opposed to afternoon, although this never used to happen in the Moyles days - if Moyles was off at short notice someone else used to cover and Mills only covered the "planned leave" wonder why that was ?

Is that 940 as time or 9 mins 40 in

I am convinced this is part of a bigger scheme, Mills will become the "front man" for R1, doing the chart, and I can see them installing him on the Breakfast show as well

Probably after Biggest weekend I wonder what shows will be from Swansea the week leading up to it? I remember last year Scott and Alice were on afternoons the week before live from Hull daily as they covered the Manchester aftermath on the Tuesday onwards playing music only for two days

I seem to remember last Summer he did 3 weeks of Scotts show (2 weeks cos Breakfast cover and 1 which was Scotts Holiday) and he did the start and end weekend as well, someone else (Cel? or Jordan) doing the middle weekends so he did 7 in a row I have known him to do 2 weeks of Scott cover in the past and do his weekend show as well - now they've got so many DJs on weekends cover is not an issue IMO Adele needs a better slot now, shes done her time on earlies

I I wonder why, which has been the theme this week, the Monday the standard presenter gets their show covered and does the Annie Mac one but the other four days does two shows? not that I'm saying its wrong just seems funny, maybe to give them more prep time ? meet the crew they are working with? Why not get Mistajam to cover Annie per usual? is it because hes also doing the chart and 1xtra drive is a more prominent slot? I also think Greg is being short changed a bit, although he is getting to do prime time BBC 1 on a Friday (Scott's TV at the moment is limited to BBC 4 and iplayer)

Can imagine it is, they must do a mass recording as James must be a busy boy Knew Chris would be off as Scott playing a Whooo game today Listening to podcast later tonight as working this afternoon

On the Talks he does, is the one he did recently online anywhere to watch?

Noted that Scott on Zoe Ball's ITV chat show this Saturday AM which is on at 0830-0930 Zoe and Scott have alot of history - not least that on his first week at Radio 1 he ended up covering her breakfast show as she was too "Ill" to come in after a massive night out in her ladette days and seems he became the main cover after and ever since

I think there are hidden messages here - I seriously do, Grimmy seems to be just "ticking over" on breakfast now, and in about 9 weeks he becomes second longest overtaking Blackburn - quite an achievement considering what he replaced I seriously think they will shake the weekday schedule up - probably waiting for big weekend to come and go then bang, Grimmy gets to 2nd longest and the weekday schedule changes Scott has really upped his game recently and seems to be on loads of social media from R1 and fronting alot of stuff - the new chart host maybe also he is the new breakfast host ?? I theorise that Scott will get breakfast Monday to Thursday by this time next year

And what with all the other stuff going on at R1 at the moment To me Scott suddenly has become important again, instead of being "just the guy who does afternoons" who was sidelined from drive I do wonder if something will happen soon that will see Scott get breakfast?

I actually like Dev He's one of the DJs from the Moyles era left and I think he deserves a weekday slot - never understood why he didn't stick early breakfast out

Might be Scott's first holiday of the summer season It's about time Scott and Chris did a couple weeks on breakfast (maybe June for this) I'm wondering if Scott will now start the transition to R2, doing cover shows there like Sara Cox did at first

I wonder what will happen to Chris on a Friday then?

Odd for Scott to have an odd day off - and no Stark either? so wonder if Scott & Chris are shadow running the chart while Mistajam is doing it? wonder if Scott is indeed covering the chart? although still says Jam on schedule. I reckon its the former, remember when they are doing a "new" show they shadow run it in the next studio a few times, Coxy, Moyles and Grimmy all did the same when starting breakfast, think Grimmy did it the Thursday and Friday before he took over while Scott was on air

Maybe Alice and Dev will become breakfast full time in the end with Grimmy relegated to weekend greatest hits ? Or will Greg finally get breakfast and Scott back on drive?

And another thing, Scott must be due to do some breakfast cover

Its weird that Scott is not doing some more high profile work here, like covering the chart and one of the others covering him

Thinking about this more - this is totally the work of Aled isn't it Hes a total radio geek like Scott and Greg I wonder what the future holds for Scott now?

I absolutely agree about the Dance anthems thing - when did Scott cover it on a Friday?

I've also wondered what will happen to Scott covering Breakfast which throws up other questions Assuming Scott remains cover for Grimshaw, will he cover on a Friday? or if Dev or Alice are off (assuming they won't let both off) will he co-host with them, but I would think the answer is actually chart first so I would think yes he will be cover for Grimmy but on Fridays his priority is the chart As far as Jam and Dev covering - maybe Jam has had enough as hes been doing 6 shows a week for a while, and now Dev will be breakfast or nothing on a Friday i'd say (will we see the likes of Grimshaw covering odd Friday greatest hits shows and all?) How will Newsbeat work on Fridays? same as rest of week? will Tina be on with Alice and Dev and Chris Smith with Scott? Will the 1245 and 1745 long shows still continue on Fridays? If I was Ben Cooper - I'd have put Scott back on 4-7 all week again and Greg on a lesser slot as clearly his TV career is kicking off as predicted, or give Greg Breakfast Mon-Thu and remove Grimshaw and bring Matt onto 1-4 weekdays (this still may happen, maybe this is the next stage of changes leading to the end of Grimshaw on brekkie and Greg on drive, funny way to be reducing your breakfast and drive shows seeing as they have been advertising and plugging them recently) What happens to Mr Stark on a Friday? Its kinda funny how Scott is going "back" to a more prominent slot - yes only once a week for now
