  1. I still stand by the fact that the show sounded pretty fresh and fun in 2012 and 2013, but since Fincham's departure, I feel it's gone on a downward trajectory. However, saying that, Moyles' Radio X show is really quite poor. The "half hour chat" is full of pauses, erms and boring bits. It's also always very Chris-centric. I listened this morning and in fairness it's the first time I've properly laughed twice at the radio in ages, but it just all sounded a bit unnecessarily drawn out. And naff imaging. Everything feels redundant.
  2. I think the issue with this package is that it sounds far too generic and like it could have been slapped together in Audacity. It could even be a template. The big mash up of sound effects and punchy noises is genuinely too confusing in the morning, and it's not distancing itself enough from commercial breakfast radio anymore. The Breakfast Show only has one feature now, and many commercial shows are similar. I think it either needs to be really tight or quite loose, not halfway inbetween. I'm switching to Radio X.
  3. BBC Three have a youth panel, and I think Radio 1 do aswell. They help influence ideas and decisions about this kind of thing. I'm guessing all the celebrity shows help to boost listener figures and can be quite entertaining. For example, when Dan & Phil started on Radio 1, they had a visual Christmas show, which turned into an annual Christmas show, which turned into a weekly show. It worked out incredibly well for them.
  4. It was me! I did a little bit of work on it, just tried to make it all sound a little more biographical. I hope it works!
  5. Greg's cited to have said in 2014 that he's had his contract extended "by a few years", so by that I'd imagine it's up for review either at the end of next year or the year after. http://www.digitalspy.com/media/news/a559241/greg-james-radio-1-contract-extended-for-next-few-years/ What are you implying by this? Are you hopeful he'll get the breakfast slot?
  6. Made a new thread on this, didn't notice your comments until now, I left my thoughts over there. Also, it looks like we shouldn't be accrediting any in-house teams for the power intros, but instead www.imgr.com. Looks like a drag and drop kind of system that R1 would subscribe to.
  7. Woke up this morning to a very different intro to the Radio 1 Breakfast Show - Radio 1 have outsourced a Breakfast Show audio rebrand. Most of the idents are longer and feature excerpts that "encapsulate Grimmy's personality" (i.e. laughter, quips from guests) with the typical song excerpts you'd expect that either are popp-y or have something to do with breakfast. Also new beds (that WiseBuddah 2015 revamp was a real waste of time and money!) for his TOTH (and BOTH), and it looks like the new format features Clara-style "the next three songs you'll hear are.." at the top and bottom of every hour. The company responsible are Contraband Media, who have done stuff for Magic and Virgin in the past. You can hear the package here >> The full rebrand was never mentioned on air, but made it to RadioToday. http://radiotoday.co.uk/2016/11/new-breakfast-show-imaging-for-nick-grimshaw/ It's certainly given the breakfast show that little spice we were talking about, helped Nick focus his links and features have been introduced too. Only criticism would be that I think it sounds a little too much like Kiss and is almost certainly a bit full-on for a breakfast show.
  8. Aww. I really really really wanna know who that is!
  9. is SHE the old Radio 1 Breakfast Show voiceover?! https://soundcloud.com/newsbeatlover/breakfast-show-jingles
  10. Completely agree, Adele is fantastic! As previously mentioned, though, because she's getting a little old for the TA, after early breakfast it's looking perhaps like she'll be quietly dropped. I think she should replace Dev on the Weekend Breakfast Show and have Jordan North in on early mornings.
  11. Dead wood. Personality of a raisin. Even the audio production ain't great. Bring back Fearne, or introduce some new talent (North?)
  12. Can someone with time on their hands make another montage of them?
  13. Dev is really becoming a nobody. His links are very samey, "On my weekend breakfast show, we do something similar, where we claim ideas as our own but they're actually the listeners", etc etc. There's something in his voice that makes him appear to be sloppy. EDIT - I'm not "voiceist", if he had a good personality and was interesting then it wouldn't matter. What I'm referring to is that the way he behaves only reinforces this trait.
  14. Agreed with most of what you said, but Ben Cooper isn't on station sound and doesn't have much input on jingles and audio branding. Whoever does should be ashamed. The 1tros era was best. Starting to really, really miss Moyles, actually.
  15. Agreed! Like Alice to me, nothing to say, acts like a four year old, really boring and with the charisma and charm of a butternut squash.
  16. Always thought Alice was a bit of an odd one to be solo; uninteresting and I just can't warm to her. Her and Phil were pretty good, but Phil seems to be being given a little more in the way of prevalence with this new Monday night slot.
  17. WELOVEMOYLESPART2, do you miss Chris by any chance? and, if anything, it's looking like perhaps BBB could be fired if he keeps this up. Surely they know that a lack of listeners is bad, irrespective of their ages. With Capital on the rise (and Kiss Fresh notably, the highest performing DAB channel), it's looking like this may be a bit of a naff ending of a brilliant era.
  18. Greg's show won. Very, very well deserved methinks.
  19. Wouldn't bet on it, Harry. Hey, I found this! (Yep, I googled it). It's probably just a joke tbh. >> http://www.kgbanswers.co.uk/which-bbc-radio-1-djmember-of-staff-did-kesha-sleep-with/18144917
  20. That grunty "ONE" is the thing they use in the YouTube intros. It's very old school, evidently.
  21. Probably if it was Scott then it was Nick Grimshaw. Which wouldn't surprise me actually. As for Kesha, my bet is Greg. He's popular with the ladies, although could do with a bit of body work. Crikey. When I signed up for UnofficialMills, I think I wanted a couple of IDs from 2009, not to speculate about which DJ Ke$ha boshed. But I'm into it, it could be a feature on R1 tbh.
  22. You're literally the first person I've ever heard that has said that
