I was under the impression they're both having the (boring) Live Lounge- I guessed Jo might have some similar format to the 'Live Lounge Hour'? Maybe Fearne will make a feature of other people filling in for her because she can't be assed to turn up. Maybe there'll be the 'Sara Cox Hour'- I for one would welcome this. Even better would be the daily 'Sara Cox Two Hours & Forty Five Minutes'...

I completely agree with Colin- that's one of my main gripes about R1, that it really doesn't play enough new music on daytime. It's far too safe and will stick with artists whose previous singles/albums they've played. On the other hand it also seems to purposely ignore some releases- when a band has a new single out, you'll often hear them start to play a previous 'hit' instead of the current one, for example they did this with Franz Ferdinand's last one. It's too safe- shake it up and stop playing so much cheesy dance-lite! I still haven't forgiven them for not playing any of the singles from Roisin Murphy's Overpowered album- she would've fitted in fine on daytime but they completely blanked her. Tsk.

If R1 was sold off, I would stop listening to radio. It's the only station that has any commitment to new music (in this area)- I refuse to listen to commercial radio because I don't want a constant stream of adverts, tacky DJs (I'll not count Fearne) and most of all dreadful dreary Pixie Lott/James Morisson/rubbish old music.

Were Scott and Steve Lamacq added in too? And why is Danny Wallace actually in there?!

I agree that she's wasted- I hate the music on the Lie-In so I don't listen and I miss Coxy- she's my favourite R1 DJ. She really was the obvious choice as Jo's replacement- I'd love to know the reason she wasn't chosen, especially as she seems to be well-loved these days.

I wonder who has more time off- Zane or Scott? Probably Zane actually. I think Annie's the best cover for him.

I'm just listening back to it on the iPlayer and am loving the old ones. They've created pure gold over the years- and I'm also loving Jaguar Skills' version of Nana Window! Just thought- what's the likelihood of the Cheesy Song being on the album? It's my favourite part of the show!

Maybe they'll move Chris back to afternoons? It seems to me to be change for the sake of it. I wouldn't like to see Scott on the mornings- I don't think his show suits that time of day. I long for those days of Coxy's breakfast show... I loved it even if noone else did!

Damn, some good ones denied! I loved Chihuahua, it was ridiculous! And Lamb Bhuna. I find any with Dom in too irritating to listen to though- I had to turn off whenever they played Jose.

We can but hope...! I'm sure she's more popular than Fearne. But it's not about what the listeners want, it's about what we're told to listen to!

I agree- I liked them as a double act, but it always seemed something was missing with Edith on her own. I can see the same happening with Fearne and Reggie- I actually enjoy their show (I know a lot of people don't!) on the rare occasions they are together, but they're a bit dull on separately.

I've never got the "movies" thing- why were they under the impression that anyone wants to hears about them so often? Especially on a music station- couldn't they have a new music feature or discussion instead? Films once a week would be plenty enough.

It's not about who best fits the slot on daytime however- it would apparently seem it's about who's the youngest.

It does seem a little coincidental that the DJs affected aren't on- although Edith is on next, I doubt she'll mention it. I wonder if Chris Moyles will be asked about it on This Morning? Probably not. Although merely a small representative of the listening population, it seems noone on here wanted Fearne to replace Jo if she "had" to go (for the crime of being too old) and would rather have Sara- so why aren't Radio 1 listening to their audience yet again? I can't see how she would turn down weekdays- I think she only does the Lie-In recorded as it was practically an insult to give her that show.

Maybe Sara's annoyed she didn't get Jo's slot in the shake-up?

Hello, been reading the Radio 1 part of the forum for a while, and had to join today because of the outrageous sidelining of Jo Whiley for Fearne Cotton! What a bad move. I'm also a big fan of Sara Cox, and Chris, Jo, Zane and Annie Mac.

I just heard this on Newsbeat- I can't believe it! Shoving the irksome Nihal away is a great idea, as is replacing Edith, but I really really enjoy Jo's show, and she may be getting on but her audience still enjoy the show (I believe). I like Fearne with Reggie, but on her own she's just a bit dull. Most importantly, what's happening to Sara?! She should have Jo's slot if they have to move her, she'd be vastly more entertaining than Fearne. This age obsession on Radio 1- sorry, BBC Radio 1- is ridiculous; she must have been chosen over Sara because of age? I presume Coxy's staying in the rubbish Lie-In slot, what a shame.
