  1. Wossy is no fool, he knew that the knives were out and he would have to take a sustantial pay cut in the summer. By making this announcement now, its on his terms and it stops the tablouds claiming a victory for their campaigns. He has efffectively put himself in the marketplace for the next 4 months so he can see what offers materialise, Very clever. Even more than Russel Brand, Wossy is like marmite and cuts a line across the generations. Older people don't get him at all. I'll miss him on TV and his radio podcasts but think he'll be back doing specials under his control for all channels pretty soon. He may say some controvertial things but he gives a lot of himself and thats why we love him. Thoroughly top bloke!
  2. It WAS for old people but I think Chris Evans will make it more contemporary although much "safer" than his R1 breakfast show which broke so many taboos and boundaries before he crawled up his own arse. Who can forget the lollipop songs, the sprouts joke or the Bjork interview (and the Mayo handovers)?
  3. Very poor odds if you ask me.... http://www.online-betting-guide.co.uk/news/18226625/Chris+Moyles+And+Jonathan+Ross+Likely+To+Be+Sacked+From+BBC+In+2010+But+Bruce+Forsyth+Is+Favourite+To+Leave+First.html
  4. I saw Ivan Brackenberry Hospital Radio act live and have to say he was excellent. Especially as there were so many radio references in his act. However, I guess with the queen focussing on the army in Afghanistan this year could have upset a few squaddies.
  5. Yeah I'M GOING TO FIND MY SOUL BACK!
  6. Indeed radiodownload works a treat once I'd worked out how to use it. I downloades a 3 hour show in a few minutes. Thanks for all the comments.
  7. What is the best (preferably free) program I can download to "record" shows off the I-player so I can put them on my IPod? Any links GRATEFULLY ACCEPTED
  8. This is sad news - Your wisecracks and grumpiness have cheered up many a dull public transport journey in Holland (and not just on the way to Climax in Amsterdam either!). Hope its not the end of a golden age of radio.
  9. You can have all this stuff in The Hague. Bring your own wheelbarrow! Best not to rely on Eurostar, though!
  10. Yeah like they's choose a 50 yr old who knows more about pop music than most of them!
  11. That apostrophie shouldn't be there!
  12. I'd love to have a go! Always wanted to be on Radio 1 since I was a kid!
  13. I'm really looking forward to the world cup, its such a good atmosphere in the pubs though I wish I could be there in South Africa. Great host country to hold it in. Incidentally have you noiced the backdrop the BBC uses on the news when they talk about the world cup? Smashing job. Shame its not the official logo, it really evokes the spirit.
  14. Actually Dick and Dom sounded quite mature on the lie-in spot. Why did they leave?
  15. Wonder if Vern'll be preaching about condoms and safe sex like he did on Saturday morning? Shame for him the following caller was a teacher at a catholic school! He's getting SO conservative and OLDMAN in his views lately!
  16. Why don't you hold the convention here in Holland? Afterwards, we coulld all go to Climax in Amsterdam!
  17. Well if they win, COWELL MOVES ABROAD!
  18. How old is this news? Or how out of touch are William Hill? I think Vernon would be the best bet. He could keep Chris's team. Having said that Vernon is old before his time and very right wing in his views. I'm sure the BBC are hoping for the younger, hipper and more politically correct Fern and Regie to take over in 5 years time
