  1. Perhaps she was just listening to the fashion expert from Jo Whiley's show, who said last month that chequered shirts are back in.
  2. I have moving to new york as my ringtone by the wombats, peter jackson saying "Fling me reound by my nostrils, and chuck your ruddy great spanner in my face" is my message alert. Always gets a giggle in the office when i forget to turn my phone from "Car" mode to "Office" mode. My wake-up alarm is my mother screaming my name progressively louder. Always scares the shit out of me in the morning.
  3. So basically Laura's being made redundant then? Because it won't be long before Fearne and Reggie are axed - they're complete and utter sh*te.

    HD-DVD loses

I object to the argument that we're all being screwed by these companies. There are many arguments why the most sophisticated technology available today has not been released. Not least is cost of manufacture. This technology is initially made as a prototype which costs millions. If they mass marketed it using the same method, they would not be able to sell the technology cheap enough that anyone would buy it. Hence it is held back whilst production techniques are refined enough to make these products cost-effective. There is also an argument that it is better for the consumer for the technology to be held back. Many companies develop rival technology at the same time, but because of the time it takes for them to come to market, usually only one will make it, which enables users to adopt a universal format. Incompatible technologies are not consumer friendly as what consumers strive for is compatibility between their pc, tv, phone, games consoles and all other electronic gadgets. When rival technologies do make it to market we see situations like the HD-DVD Blu-Ray war. Even if they did release all the technology available now, what would these companies then do? They'd have to develop more technology, and we'd only enter the same cycle again anyway.
  6. Did anyone see the Brits. I watched Moyles present the first award. He said this morning he wouldn't make a joke about Paul McCartney dispite talking about doing so on his show. When he took the stage he made one joke, which he rushed and nobody heard the punchline. Then he said something about Paul McCartney which nobody heard and then proceeded to give the award having realised nobody laughed. Poor show
  7. Nobody likes the Chart - its rubbish. Record companys control what gets released when so they can ensure they get as high as possible. It doesn't need 4 hours devoted to it. I had an idea when they got rid of TOTP. they should make it like the Live Lounge, get on three artists a week, get them to do their single LIVE, and a cover LIVE. And get someone who actually gives a crap about music like Jo Whiley or Jools Holland to present it, not a couple of Kids TV presenters who are too old to present Kids TV but too imature to be real presenters.

    HD-DVD loses

This story has really annoyed me today. Everybody's complaining that loads of people who bought HD-DVD have wasted their money. The truth is anyone who had more than half a brain cell and who carried out even the smallest amount of research into what they were buying knew to buy Blu-Ray. All of the stats were more impressive: http://www.engadget.com/2005/09/19/blu-ray-vs-hd-dvd-state-of-the-s-union-s-division/ It was quite simple. In computers Blu-Ray was always going to win because it held more. In viewing films Blu-Ray was always going to win because more studios supported it. The only thing HD-DVD had going for it in the beginning was that it was slightly cheaper. Supporters of it cited the example that VHS won over betamax because it was cheaper, even though betamax was better quality. But what VHS had going for it was porn. Porn companies were the first to adopt VHS on a mass scale because of its cheapness. However, that wasn't a factor here because most people just download porn these days. The reason DVD took off was because it was bundled with the PS2. not a surprise then that the Blu-Ray took off partyl down to being bundled with the PS3. And the X-Box 360 users can't really complain either. Nobody actualy bought the add-on HD-DVD player for it, and now Microsoft will simply develop an add-on blu-ray player for the 360. So WHY OH WHY do newsbeat insist on using that clip of the moron saying "I wish someone had told us they weren't going to support it" Seriously people like that bloke are people the world can do without. Toshiba aren't going to tell you they're losing until the very last minute, its just bad business sense. And the guy in the shop telling you its the future isn't going to tell you its going to be obsolete because its his job to sell the damn things. At the end of the day if you've got enough money to spend a grand on an HD-DVD player without thinking then you've got enough money to do it again on a Blu-Ray player. If you haven't got enough money to do that, then you should really do your research. Phew that has relived me somewhat, Ive been wanting to scream that at the radio all day!

    Lost Season 4

They didn't get greedy. I remember reading when the show first aired that it was planned for 7 seasons, unlike other shows which are often written according to how many shows the are commissioned for. They have actually condensed it a lot, especially due to shrinking to 16 episodes. I watched episode 401 this morning having downloaded it from the usa - its bloody brilliant, though I won't spoil it for you all.
  10. I just dont like the way you can click on a file it lists as an mp3, to which it directs you to a webpage saying "downloading music illegaly is bad mkay" and then my firewall goes crazy with trojan attacks. Granted that was a couple of years ago when I stopped using limewire. To the tech-challenged (90% of the people who will try to use it) and who have little or no idea about safe tinterweb browsing it causes a whole manifestation of problems. /offtopic The Ting Tings are pretty good download the record (legally)
  11. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/surgery/perfectdj.shtml?facevar=1&eyesvar=10&nosevar=13&mouthvar=12 Hehe Mills in 20 years after he discovers plastic surgery
  12. Oh it was free on iTunes last night. Maybe that was a glitch in iTunes or something. Plus Limewire is rather awful and full of spyware and other nasties.
  13. Jo Whiley's record of the week last week was the Ting tings - Great DJ, and this week it has made it to the C list. I just searched for it on iTunes, and whilst it hasn't been released yet, a demo version is available for free download. Just thought I'd let you know for anyone who really really liked this song. I had to search for "Great DJ", for some reason it didn't show when i searched "ting tings".
