Peter Crouch and Chris Stark win British Podcast Award as Jamie Laing also triumphs

 

Peter Crouch and Chris Stark’s podcast has been named the UK’s best sports podcast, while Radio 1 presenter Jamie Laing was also among the winners at the 2026 British Podcast Awards.

That Peter Crouch Podcast, which also features Chris Stark and Steve Sidwell, picked up the Gold award for Best Sport Podcast at the ceremony at Indigo at The O2 in London.

Jamie Laing and his wife Sophie Habboo were also celebrating after their NewlyParents podcast won Best Entertainment Podcast.

The awards, which marked their tenth anniversary this year, recognise podcasts across more than 30 categories covering entertainment, sport, news, factual programming and comedy.

Actor Bill Nighy was named Best Host for his podcast ill-advised, while the night’s top honour, Podcast of the Year, went to the Prison Radio Association’s Hold or Fold.

The series, which explores the lives of people affected by gambling, also won Best Factual Podcast.

Pete Wicks enjoyed a double victory with his Bauer Media podcast Man Made, winning both Best Health & Wellbeing Podcast and Best Interview Podcast.

Meanwhile, Hard Launch with Dan & Phil won the public-voted Listeners’ Choice Award.

Sean Bean’s birdwatching series Get Birding also picked up two prizes, winning Best Lifestyle Podcast and Best Video Innovation.

There was further BBC success during the evening. Legend: The Bruce Springsteen Story, from BBC Audio Wales and West of England, won Best Arts & Culture Podcast, while The House at Number 48 from BBC Long Form Audio was named Best History Podcast.

BBC Audio’s SEND in the Spotlight won Best Impact Podcast, and the BBC World Service was named Best Network or Publisher.

Former Radio 1 presenter Nick Grimshaw also picked up recognition, with Dish from Waitrose, which he hosts alongside chef Angela Hartnett, receiving the Spotlight Award.

Other winners included Alan Carr and Lee Peart’s Bottoms Up! for Best Food & Drink Podcast, The Intelligence from The Economist for Best Daily Podcast and The Birth Keepers from The Guardian for Best Documentary Podcast.

The British Podcast Awards ceremony was hosted by comedian, actor and podcaster Jake Bhardwaj, with presenters on the night including Crouch, Stark, Clara Amfo, Anita Rani, Mishal Husain and Pete Wicks.
