6 July 2005: Star Phone, Flirt Divert and Random Acts of Kindness

Happy Wednesday to you!

It's mid-week and last night the wine was on for Scott. I'm once again up for addictive radio and this morning we bring you news that Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva broke her own world record once again. Chappers asked for some gags but most of them couldn't be read out. Today Davina McCall has been snapped up by the beeb, Pete Doherty liked his performance at Live8 and Angelina Jolie isn't pregnant.

Celebrity Time Check on Radio 1

This morning at 7.10 we had Flava from Blazin' Squad. I didn't know they could tell the time, so how they got away with that is beyond me.

And Roberto off of Big Brother was back on the show today, this time giving us a time check at 8.10. Surely he's used to ruder awakenings?

Flirt Divert

Scott had a guy on the line who was working and had stopped off at a 24-hour TESCO and spotted a nice lady working at the checkout, and she was rather hot apparently, and he gave her the Flirt Divert number. He said he has a sad lonely life and wanted to give someone the number. So he has ended up blowing his chances with this girl. He's decided he won't be going back to the supermarket as he's only working there for a week. Strange guy… And what's the obsession with this supermarket chain? The other day a guy had left his sausages in a TESCOs bag, and today the guy had been spending time there. Do all the minging people spend their time there?

Going over the top

So Chappers was on a mission to find a Pole Vaulting gag, but did he find one? The same one was coming in many times, which is this one:

At the recent Olympics, a man was walking through the Olympic village carrying a long pole. A reporter came up to him and asked "Are you a pole vaulter?"

The man replied, "No, I'm a German, but how did you know my name was Walter?"

Was that tumbleweed I saw passing?

Chappers: "Still looking for pole vault gags although lots of Liverpool fans were suggesting where Steven Gerrad can put the pole."

Some more suitable gags did eventually come in.

Life's a party – Crash it

That's the tagline for the 'The Wedding Crasher'. Owen Wilson was on the show today, he's promoting his new movie. And no he isn't the crocodile bloke.

Scott: "I think you mean Steve Urwin, thanks for your interest in Radio 1.

After the show he's off back to LA. He sounded like he was eating some kind of food during the beginning of it, either that or the team were. He hadn't heard of Swindon, which Scott describes as the OC with a few more roundabouts. Strangely enough 'The Wedding Crasher' is about crashing weddings where Owen stars with Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, Christopher Walken and Will Ferrell.

Owen spoke about antics at weddings, and moved on to some very amusing but random stories about the movie. Chappers then told Owen about Comedy Dave's wedding along with the Everton music that he marched down the aisle to. He also answered some questions and started with a rather deep question about the important thing in his life. Owen answered family and friends. Rather different in comparison to the questions Mariah Carey got.

Scott: "It's ten past nine…

There were then some questions about his party tricks to do with underwear, and then there was a girl who had several dreams about Owen. She even dreamed that Owen ran a cat's home. She said she'd leave her number with Scott.

Scott: "It's 077459… (Flirt Divert for those who really know little about the show)

Scott had 20 pairs of tickets to the movie to giveaway along with the soundtrack to the movie. All you had to do was answer a simple question, but Owen wasn't sure on the answer. Apparently he was very relaxed and had his trainers on the desk. Good interview anyway.

Rate My Listener

So yesterday's Rate My Listener was Russ. It wasn't good news, as I said yesterday he seemed rather boring. And clearly the listeners didn't see anything in him either. But the thing is he clearly knew what the result was too as he didn't answer on two attempts of calling him. There's definitely a thing going on where the listeners are mean to the men and nice to the ladies. Or it could just be his work colleagues again…

Today's Rate My Listener was Lou. She's a student nurse from Birmingham (G'Mornin'). She's single and up for a laugh. Her ideal man would be 'rough and ready' such as Robbie Williams. It had a lot of hits this morning and according to the listeners she's 'not bad'. Don't forget to Rate Her Happy on the BBC pages.

Laura was kicking up a fuss 'the production team' pick great looking girls and boys that are slight worse off. It's a bit flawed really.

Your conservatory is at risk

Your Home is at Risk was back again today. On the line today was eight-year-old Sophie and her brother Ben who were off to school. Sophie wanted a Britney CD so she gambled two Liverpool shirts. She just had to answer which animal was known as the king of the jungle. It's a lion.

Chappers: "Is it? I didn't know that. I thought it was an elephant". But then again Scott didn't know what yellow and blue made.

Ben decided to gamble his big sister for some costumes. Apparently she has a bigger bedroom then them. Hopefully he wasn't just trying to get it wrong to get rid of her. And finally Sophie wanted a Karaoke machine, and to demonstrate she gave us a chorus of Britney Spears. She decided to gamble her mum's new conservatory. Yup, the features called 'Your Home is at Risk' and yet no one's gambled the house. She'd go "ballistic" if she lost. But luckily she knew the starting line-up of the 1966 England World Cup football team. Phew, that's a relief.

As the saying used to go – 'Knowledge is Power'. Can you believe the uproar claiming the feature's a fix!

"It's scripted tosh"

Not all kids go around in hoodies getting themselves banned from Bluewater shopping malls. Name and shame these whiners! More at 7.45am tomorrow.

The Radio 1 Star Phone

It's still going 24 hours later, which may shock most listeners. As I said yesterday, it's like a mobile phone pass the parcel with a pay as you go mobile phone. Chappers wouldn't let Scott ring her at 8.10 in the morning.

Chappers: If the phone goes before nine you always think its bad news.

Scott: Especially if it's me.

Chappers: Yeah it will be, exactly.

Mariah knows Snoop and Jay-Z but Chappers' money is on the phone ending up in the bin. Scott then rang her about 9.30 and got an international dialling tone. She was sleeping, but managed to answer, and she was in Germany at the time of the call. But then one texter claimed Scott shouldn't have rang her as it was 4.30am in the USA. Just like to point out he said Germany (thanks for listening).

Scott: "My favourite text was 'It's 10.30 in Germany, if she's still in bed she's a lazy cow'".

Also on the Show

Scott discuses Makosi's behaviour on Big Brother. She thinks she's pregnant. I'm afraid Laura pulled that trick on Tuesday. And breaking news that Steven Gerrad is staying at Liverpool, which must please Neil. And Jo Whiley's at her kid's sports day so Sara Cox was filling in.

Trailer Park Boys

Bit of information contary to what was said yesterday. Trailer Park Boys is going to be airing at 12am on Paramount, but it'll still be airing at 10pm on Paramount 2. So don't fear, providing you can receive both channels.

Tomorrow's delights

Chappers has tickets to the Grand Prix in Scott's Sport Quiz, a Random Act of Kindness and some more of 'Your Home is at Risk'.

I'll probably be back tomorrow at midday with another Scott review. It wasn't a bad show today, slightly quiet, but a great interview with Owen Wilson.

Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day! Don't forget Vernon and his new sidekick at 4.
